There are a LOT of inclusive churches on island which is nice. There’s still like two churches that do counter protest sermons on street corners, but no one takes it seriously when so many of the mainline churches are IN the parade

One of the quirks of hawaii as a state is that local banks managed to stay separate from the big mainland ones, so there’s a mix of rainbow capitalism and just its members being queer that kept them safer. Heck, Hawaiian/Alaska is the parade starter since queer flight attendants are a big group.

Local Pride parade spokesperson said one of the themes is “safety in numbers” and that’s a little depressing but also a mood. Best way to relax is having a lot of people doing the same.

And it's not a close call. Here's the beginning of the ABA's Model Rules of Professional Conduct, adopted in 1983: "Preamble: A Lawyer's Responsibilities [1] A lawyer, as a member of the legal profession, is a representative of clients... That's not compatible with "the terms are different."

I swear to god, where the hell does the "lawyer and attorney are different" thing come from? All three major models are regurgitating the claim, but there aren't any sources that really back it up. Even the ones the AI's cite when pushed don't really stand for that proposition.

It's a massive problem for Paradox (and the genre at large tbqh), that a significant part of community discussions about representing this sort of thing in games leans towards a horrible request to give players a sense of agency in reenacting these crkmes

FWIW, as I discuss in the post, I know this is a question that the developers themselves wrestled with over multiple HoI titles, so it isn't like they are malicious actors here - they thought this was the best solution to an impossible problem. But I disagree and strongly so.

By far, I think this is HoI4's greatest failing and I think it is a grievous one, probably the worst single historical design decision in Paradox's entire library, ameliorated only slightly by the fact that most WWII games take this same cowardly dodge. HoI4 can be better and it should be better.
