Definitely posting late tonight. I don’t know how late, but it could be later than usual.

I think there is an informal definition of random that is frequently used: Something that *feels* random. I claim it’s a separate meaning because people will say “that’s so random,“ but I don’t think they’re saying “that’s the result of random choices” or similar.

I easily believe and sympathize with a lot of weird mistakes. My adventure with missing Sharpies might help explain why.

I eliminated the impossible and determined I probably left the Sharpies in the bag. Once that was accepted, I found them in a to-be-recycled delivery box. I’d done this to clear off a desk. Why didn’t I take out the Sharpies and put both boxes and bag in their respective recycling spots? No idea.

When sensing power levels in a story, I think it would make sense for the sensation to plateau. Past a certain point, I imagine the difference in pressure would be indistinguishable. You’d hit your limit of perception. Imagine trying to compare sea sizes by standing on their beaches.

I am attempting to self actualize more. For the time being, this involves putting many things in boxes so I can decide what to do with clear, available space. The alternative is to try and do that while the space is already mostly occupied, which is like a Tetris hard mode.

I bought Sharpie pens to label boxes I’m using to temporarily store things while I get more organized and potentially rearrange, replace, or get rid of furniture!! I have no idea where the Sharpies are.

I'm guessing up to two hours late for the comic. I don't think it'll be two hours late, but I don't trust myself to be right with time estimates, so I'm saying up to two hours 🕐

Audible doesn’t have someone literally just reading the dictionary and I am genuinely disappointed. I know that sounds absurd, but just consider that as background noise.

I decided to see what my Smithsonian “Animal” book had on rabbits, and have consequently learned that rabbits ovulate not on a cycle, but in response to “the act.” Thus explaining rabbit population nonsense in spite of the ridiculous number of predators who consider them lunch (humans included).

The last bastion of seeing new YouTube videos in chronological order was the subscriptions page. Now they’ve tossed a “Most Relevant” section into that, choosing out of order videos that are, I guess, most relevant. Somehow.

A video on books that annoyed the reviewer which includes books I’ve seen promoted on store shelves? Sure, I’ll watch that. YouTube: “Ah, so you like videos on being angry about books, eh?” Not in general, but— “BEHOLD! Videos which lament the silencing of the straight white male!” Oh ye gods no

An issue with repression is the same issue people can have with persistent distracting thoughts: You try to ignore them, and your brain keeps processing the incomplete thoughts in the background. In such instances, some sort of closure is superior to trying not to think about elephants.

Without agreed upon criteria, whether a word applies to something is subjective anarchy. Even with that criteria, analysis might still be subjective, but at least everyone should actually know what they’re arguing about.

Palworld effectively has a New Game+ option via the Global Palbox. You can store critters in there and, as early as level three, copy them into other saves (and I do mean copy; They remain in the original save). AND if the "New Game+" world is randomized, you start with all the saddles.

I remember English classes having us write stories and essays, but what letters and e-mails? The assignments could provide context and an outline of things to address. Feedback could be given on tone, clarity, structure, and general things like grammar. It honestly sounds like people need it.

I decided to delete a thread due to feeling I hadn't been clear. I added clarification, but that just made the first unclear post pop up again. I could endlessly try to clear it up by adding post after post, but the first muddy post would always be the focus and never, EVER be clean! 😱

If you live in a shared space, be it with family or roommates, there is almost certainly one immutable truth: You need a pair of scissors that are just your scissors. These scissors are kept in your space. They are returned to your space. That are not left in a shared space, nor given if asked.

I keep earlier drafts when I write stories. I do that in case I change my mind on a significant edit, but it’s probably a good idea these days due to AI accusations. Granted, I don’t know if having a history of the process would dissuade many people, but at least it exists.

I should start keeping track of sources of good writing advice, and start compiling records of that advice for sharing. I don’t mean fictional writing, either. I mean general advice that can help people not need LLMs. If you know what you’re doing, you won’t need AI’s hand in your writing.

It’s worth considering that every bit of story writing advice will have its opposite. This is partly because a lot of bits of advice are personal preferences, what they think they want (may or may not be true even if being totally honest), and what they thinks others want.

Supposedly, low end AI data centers use about 100,000 households worth of electricity. On the upper end, 2,000,000 households. What I'm saying is "but YOU use electronics!" isn't much of a "gotcha!" when we're each less than 0.00001% of a small AI data center.

I don't think AI use "makes you dumb." Depending on use, I think it makes your skills stagnate and rot. You improve by doing. You stay where you are and atrophy by not doing. If you're not doing by virtue of AI doing it for you, that's what's happening. This is not all uses of AI, but it is many.

I'm considering taking an idea I had for EGSNP and turning it into a comedy novella as a self-publishing experiment (also I think it might work better in that form). Granted, as the writer, I could do both. What am I going to do, sue myself? Although... 🤔

#egscomics The immortals in my comics have been called immortals and fairies. There is, however, another as-of-yet unrevealed term they’ve been referred to as, and it’s possible to guess what it was based on the old rules and the “empower and guide” limitations they chose.
