Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Everything has been binned except my dad’s head which sits now on a shelf. Pretty fucked up if I think about it, but maybe this is how it ought to be. 130
Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/202640 years after the family unit broke (almost to the day) the plaster of paris version also came apart. I feel a sense of freedom as no longer do I have to think about how to dispose of the god awful thing, but at the same time…🫤 110
Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Then today in a fit of pique about something else I heavy handed it out of a room…and in the process I decapitated my long dead dad. My plaster of paris limbs snapped and my mum flew off in a wind direction, in tact but briefly before also losing her head. 100
Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Guests have looked at it in horror. “What is that?” They’d say and I’d explain. Why was I still schlepping it around? It’s a horrible reminder of a failed marriage and a broken family. But I couldn’t dispose of it. Where would it go? Who’d take it? 100
Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Within a year my mum left - she went off with another guy. I stayed with my dad. Eventually he met someone else and this horrible model was in her vision every day. 18 years later he died. The model became mine. I’ve schlepped it around every house I’ve lived in ever since. 100
Blanche @blancheleathers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Years ago (40+), my dad commissioned a local artist to make a model/plaster of Paris sculpture of him, my mum, and me. The final thing was pretty horrible. The model of dad was the only that bore any resemblance to the real person. 210
