CDOT says the historic Cortland Bridge is no longer strong enough to carry motorized traffic. Meanwhile, the car-free span is paradise for folks on foot, bike, and e-scooter. What if we pedestrianized it and built a new car/truck bridge next to it? 🤔

"But the handicapped need cars!" No, what they need are options in mobility. The tech exists to enable their freedom of independent mobility, but almost always what is lacking is the enabling infrastructure. Bike lanes and quality sidewalks serve everyone.

This is what I mean I when I tell people who bike to exercise their rights aggressively. It's safer for you and helps educate the driving public. If a driver is honking at you they can see you. If they can see you your chances of them hitting you with their vehicle is small. Well done!

From August: Comsumer Reports doesn't recommend any e-scooters. Bicycle or mass transit may offer safer means of getting around. Just don't drive. Motor vehicles are most dangerous of all.

At least 5 people on foot, bike, or e-moto have been killed by drivers on Archer in the 23rd Ward since 2020. While local Ald. Silvana Tabares has an office at Archer/Laramie, where a memorial for Juan Martin Márquez, 54, was held Saturday, she didn't attend. chi.streetsblog.org/2026/09/29/a...

This is incredibly sad and tragic. While it undoubtedly makes no difference to his family, Mr. Marquez Luna was riding a YOULON Z10 electric motorcycle according to the police report, as reported by Streetsblog, not a bicycle or e-bike.

These rotted away bike racks by the Southport Ave Jewel are a perfect representation of how much care and attention Chicago’s 44th Ward alders have put towards the cyclist community. Something that Alderman Bennett Lawson could easily fix but won’t, and why I’m rooting for @kalenfor44.bsky.social
Spots for four bike racks but two have broken off due to rust and only sharp bases remain. The two remaining racks look like a firm kick could collapse them.

Startled this morning to receive an "AI Summary" from court reporter w/ deposition transcript of my witness. Didn't ask for it. I shudder to think of all the attorneys who will overly rely of AI summaries of depositions. Be careful, this stuff is unreliable. It's being shoved down our throats.
