@bestforbritain.org No, they overstated them by nearly £900 billion. Not only did they double count the Climate Change Committees estimates, they double counted out of date figures from 2020 as opposed to the most recent from 2025, which is £105 billion.

My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…
More silence

"Professor?"

Sanctioning the #InternationalCriminalCourt #ICC is so much more than just "regrettable". It marks the end of the 1945 settlement, and of the so called #RulesBasedInternationalOrder. To describe this as "regrettable" is mealy-mouthed and grossly inadequate.

That ended up as 2.5 kg of quinces paste. Presents for neighbours in the offing. Quince jelly is next. Given I have 2/3 of the quinces left, it will end up as about 7kg of quince paste or jelly.

The in-laws gave us a big box of quinces from their bumper harvest. Just made a big batch of quince paste/membrillo with about 1/3 of them. That stuff is like lava when it boils though. Just poured it out to cool overnight.
