Second chapter of my thesis work in the Dunn Lab out! We worked on the genome of Nanomia septata, re-analyzed RNA-seq from some of the specialized zooids within the colony, sampled population diversity of the Nanomia genus and looked at synteny in siphonophores vs other cnidarians

Our setup was a bit different with electrodes lying flat, so instead of up and down, and you would dip it in a spot dish, and had control over the angle etc. I remember making very thin and long needles. With dip up and down you may get very pointy short ones. Maybe try different angles too.

The electrolytic method is how I made my microsurgery needles back in grad school (when I used to be a chicken embryo surgeon). It's a lil messy but super easy once you have the setup!

When flying you know how people get irritated with loud kids. I started reframing children's behaviour in flights or in boarding/security lines etc as the manifestation of how we (adults) feel. We are bored and want to kick and scream too. Kids are doing all that for us adults, as our messengers. :)
