Of all the things that facebook ruined, it was all the small clubs and events moving their online presence there. No more niche websites or forums. Just the dreary homogony of everything in the one same place - and assumption you were on facebook in the first place.

Who remembers these little pixel art pictures on their old mobile phone? No apps. No emoji packs. Just skulls, weed leaves, sexy logos and Madonna ringtones. The early 2000s were something else.
Pixel-art SMS pictures and mobile logos from the early 2000s.

AI companies: This technology we’re developing is dangerous and might destroy humanity and we don’t know how to stop it Other people: So we should strictly regulate it, create legislative guard rails, and monitor its development? AI companies: lol no the opposite of all that & give us more money

I feel terribly sad for all those old-school Economy 7 teleswitch meters still out there, listening for a radio signal to switch them into off-peak mode that will never ever come now that they've switched off BBC Long Wave. Like V'Ger in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:

Controversial option: mozzarella cheese is not a good cheese. It's stringy, far too chewy, and doesn't even taste that much of cheese.

All error messages should be copyable. I'm so bored of having to transcribe some arcane error code just because some gobshite developer couldn't be arsed to find the setting to make their error messages appear as copyable text.

Twice a year, Hawai'i experiences a strange moment where the sun appears to be exactly overhead & anything that is completely vertical casts no shadow. Let's learn about Lāhainā Noon, subsolar points & 'Kau ka lā i ka lolo', meaning "the sun rests on the brains."
From a Reddit forum, a photo of a can of coconut milk with a blue label, papyrus text and a flip-top, on a sidewalk. It seems to hover because there's no visible shadow. The pavement is sort of unevenly colored, with bright spots, and the grass along it is green and lush.

Just ran a little under 5k on the trail, which doesn't sound like a huge achievement, but it's the furthest I've run since a persistent tendon injury last year. Physio is going well and I'm getting back out there at last, feels good 💪
