Evolutionary Anthropology MSc
The programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the latest research into human evolution and development. The focus is on the genetic, paleoanthropological and cognitive aspects of human behaviour and the mind. Particular emphasis is placed on engaging with the complexities of research processes, and on developing skills in designing, implementing and evaluating studies. Students will gain professional expertise in handling and rigorously analysing and effectively presenting data, preparing them for doctoral research.

Book cover with a green gradient background for "The Organism–Environment Pairing: A Historical and Philosophical Reappraisal" by Alejandro Fábregas-Tejeda (MIT Press, 2026). The book series label “The Vienna Series in Theoretical Biology” appears at the top. The title is set in large, bold lettering using three colors: white (“The” and “Pairing”), warm yellow (“Organism–”), and bright green (“Environment”). The subtitle appears below in smaller white text, and the author’s name is printed at the bottom. In the lower right, a monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) rests on clusters of pink milkweed flowers. Behind it, a large pale-green butterfly silhouette fills the background; its outline follows the shape of a red lacewing butterfly (Cethosia biblis). The layered butterflies visually echo the book’s central idea of an organism–environment pairing.

I taught Genetics again this year. We need to include discussion of the problematic history of our field, especially as the claims of eugenics are once again centered in our political discourse. Last year I wrote this piece, explaining my reasoning and approach 🧪 1/n www.cell.com/trends/genet...

We must not ignore
eugenics in our genetics
curriculum
Mark Peifer1,2,*
Eugenics, that promoted planned
breeding to ensure 'racial improve-
ment', was central to the develop-
ment of genetics and led to
horrifying policies. However, eugen-
ics is not dead and continues to
influence science and policy today.
Thus, we should include eugenics
in our undergraduate classes to
remind students that scientists
must speak out when others lie
about science and use it to further
their political views.

This is a good time to remember that Moas, Emus, and the other ratites diverged so long ago, they FLEW to different continents, and then lost the ability to fly and became giants independently. You can't just sprinkle a few variants to make one into the other. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Maps of continents breaking apart does not match the order in which flightless birds speciate, which indicates they flew over water rather than walk across a mega continent.
