I tasked the UMBRA-10 satellite over LC-39B to capture SLS on the pad. The capture lasted 33 seconds (2026-01-20 04:20:43 - 4:21:16 UTC) so here it is turned into a short video.

This is trying to solve a problem that no one has. How much statistical weight do insurers even place on a mission-ending debris strike?

We don't spend nearly enough time as a society complaining about the adhesive being used to seal prepackaged soups. Why are we being forced to cut the film??? There's a tab indicating it can be pulled off, but it's a skeuomorph now!!!

The identity monitoring service people got because of the OPM hack is expiring, which makes sense, since it's been 10 years and China has probably forgotten about all the data it stole. Glad that threat is over!

Even though I rarely use STK these days I still crack jokes about it being slow. I figured that was becoming an outdated reference, because surely they've improved it since then, but I just hopped in and MY GOD it's worse. Reminiscent of the last days of Internet Explorer - borderline unusable

Good assumption, sounds like you're good. I've also talked with other hiring managers who totally ignore cover letters, so 🤷‍♂️

Just a basic explanation of why you're a fit for the position. Not including one is basically saying "my resume speaks for itself", which is almost never true

As someone who has done a lot of hiring over the past year, I took a lack of cover letter as a strong negative signal.

A Maxar satellite image of Mt Fuji. The satellite was only 3 degrees above the horizon at the time, so the capture angle is almost directly side on instead of top down.

Demonstrations are great as existence proofs for new capabilities. Existence proofs, however, are not proof of uniqueness. You need deeper context and knowledge to understand the novelty/utility of the demo. Barring that, you're left to believe the narrative the authors have carefully built. Beware.
