Do think about coming/organising! Perhaps what the conference needs is a strong panel on 'methods'? Either way, would be good to see lots of theorists turning up & reminding management just what a hotbed of humanistic excellence Exeter continues to be. The staff there deserve ribbons not scissors...

Here's a review by Tom Hopkins of Kathleen McCrudden Illert's excellent recent book on Sophie de Grouchy--a project whose origins lie in early 2015 when she complained of one of my reading lists (about the 1790s) that there weren't any women on it, so I pointed her towards the "Letters on Sympathy".

Geography is always in the list of high risk for cuts. Trying to streamline a university's offerings without care and input from faculty, staff, students and alumni means higher education becomes less than higher and the university loses diversity and becomes a monoversity.

I am very glad to see how widely covered the insanity at Exeter is, but please I beg everyone, understand this is happening EVERYWHERE in UK universities. If people care about anything valuable that this sector does or contributes too, they need to get loud, now.
