Christian Nationalism is not Christian. It is authoritarian religious dogma seeking political power. It equates with Christian Sharia law.
Christian Nationalism can be more accurately described as Christian Supremacist Nationalism. A belief system that merges national identity with a particular interpretation of Christianity, often asserting superiority over other cultures, religions, and worldviews. Nationalism at its core is not simply national pride, but the elevation of one nation, and groups within that nation, as inherently superior to others in terms of ideologies and or religious beliefs. Self-righteousness is the belief in one's moral or spiritual superiority.

When nationalism and religious exclusivism combine, they contradict the humility and universality of Christian teachings making Christian Nationalism fundamentally anti-Christian.

It was The Ontario Science Centre. Without the science dept it's now the Ontario Centre. The province will soon push to sell it off, reducing it to just The Centre. The new owner will then demolish the buildings to put up condos, leaving nothing left.

A really good question from @steinberg.nu "𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻?" We've got the tools and technology. "They know 𝗛𝗢𝗪 to solve the problem. They just haven't decided 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 they actually want to." h/t @ffsafestreets.bsky.social #TOpoli
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻?

One of the world's deadliest machines is the automobile. Every year, over 1.19 million people are killed by cars globally. Yet, we have normalized this. We treat it as a "necessary evil". The unavoidable, tragic cost of doing business.

But there is already a solution. And for some reason, politicians don't want it.

For every grand challenge, two questions need to be answered:
- 𝗛𝗢𝗪 to solve it. This is a technical, technological question.
- 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 to solve it. This is the question of political will: are we actually going to use the solution we've found?

When it comes to road safety, we already have the technological solution to practically eliminate traffic deaths. It’s called Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA). It automatically limits a vehicle's speed to the posted limit. Is it a 30 km/h street? No matter how hard the driver presses the gas, the car won't go above 30 km/h.

The 𝗛𝗢𝗪 is solved. This technology has already been tested with incredible success around the world:

🇺🇸 New York City installed ISA on hundreds of municipal fleet vehicles, dropping severe speeding by a staggering 77%.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 London mandated it on their public buses, and speeding plummeted from 17% to barely 1%.

Now for the 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥.

This is where decision-makers should step up and make this technology mandatory. The mayors of Barcelona, Amsterdam, Tokyo, or Rio de Janeiro could say today: No car can enter this city without an active ISA installed.

But they don't. Instead, they give us a mountain of excuses: "The GPS isn't 100% accurate yet", "Drivers might need to speed up to avoid an accident", "We can't force this on older cars. We need a 15-year phase-in...", "It infringes on personal freedom...".

These excuses are moral cowardice.

Which brings me back to the question at the top:
Why don't politicians want to save the lives of children?

One of the reasons why the ongoing meltdown about Zohran asking people to set their A/C to 78 bothers me is that it seems to be a symptom of post-COVID unwillingness for individuals to do anything for the common good, and if we don’t have that we’re in a very bad place as a society.

Here's something to keep in mind... All this AI stuff is programs running on computers. Computers are based on silicon. Silicon is refined from sand. Sand is just ground up rocks. So your average AI is just barely more sentient than your average rock.
