I'm tired of the software I use getting jankier and jankier recently. It's been great at slowly getting me to use computers less, but it makes the times I do that much more painful.

Everybody in the "climate space" (which means everyone on earth...) needs to understand these mind-blowing figures. Google's "total electricity consumption jumped from 31 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 to 43 TWh in 2025." In ONE year. The AI corporate arms race is eating the world.

It's your time for the yearly complaints about the lack of inclusivity in the CSS spec. So many of those have accessibility gotchas, even some of the ones meant to help (I see you, broken WCAG contrast formula). survey.devographics.com/survey/state...

We tried to warn you about Anthropic. Now they're using xAI's ultra-polluting community-killing nightmare data centre to power your toxic claude relationship All the new paid subs from @rutgerbregman.com and @quitgpt.bsky.social's campaign, now powered by Musk 🫠 www.anthropic.com/news/higher-...
New compute partnership with SpaceX
We’ve signed an agreement with SpaceX to use all of the compute capacity at their Colossus 1 data center. This gives us access to more than 300 megawatts of new capacity (over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs) within the month. This additional capacity will directly improve capacity for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.

This joins our other significant compute announcements:

An up to 5 gigawatt (GW) agreement with Amazon, which includes nearly 1 GW of new capacity by the end of 2026;
A 5 GW agreement with Google and Broadcom, which will begin coming online in 2027;
A strategic partnership with Microsoft and NVIDIA that includes $30 billion of Azure capacity;
Our $50 billion investment in American AI infrastructure with Fluidstack.
We train and run Claude on a range of AI hardware—AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and NVIDIA GPUs—and continue to explore opportunities to bring additional capacity online.

As part of this agreement, we have also expressed interest in partnering with SpaceX to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity.

I'm not sure how Mozilla focusing on security bug fixes is a tell of anything. It's great that Firefox is getting more secure, but this isn't mythos, this is dedicating the time to focus on these issues, LLMs have been decent at spotting those for a while now. But once again, gotta sell the hype.

What is the collective noun for people who work at Google? I propose 'an arrogance of Googlers'. Individually, they're lovely people — the ones I've met, anyway. But put them in a room together with some promo incentives and they become an absolute menace

I'm starting to see a lot more "Get on with the program or get out" when it comes to AI adoption at work. This is how you get workers to divest from their work. And honestly, this really stinks of snake-oil. I'm so tired. The church of emacs was a joke, stop making tools into objects of worship

"AI is just another tool" No. Tools don't have logins, subscriptions, or silent updates that change how they function. You own tools. You control tools. AI is a *platform* until this is what coding with LLMs means (and if it becomes a tool we should remember that some tools require training to use)

This is indicative of a mindset which essentially says "there can be no such thing as scholarship or intelligence when it comes from a group I've been conditioned to demonize" and we'd all be better off if we realized these people are simply like this. There's nothing to persuade here, it's bigotry.

palestinian journalist posting on twitter that his bluesky account was immediately taken down purely because he was in gaza. all palestinian accounts are assumed to be spam.
Tamer Nahed 𓂆🇵🇸
@Tamer_Alnoaizy

BlueSky is one of the worst platforms I have ever dealt with. Within seconds of creating a second account, after my first one was shut down just two days after it was created, my account was closed again. This happened despite the fact that I hadn’t posted anything or followed anyone. I was only in the process of adding a profile photo, yet I received an email claiming that my account was “spam” and that it was “causing harm.” What kind of logic is this?

The painful truth is that the account was shut down the moment it became clear it was created from inside Gaza. It seems we are no longer allowed to write or speak about what is happening to us here. They are not afraid of content itself, but of our voices and the reality we carry with us.

Millions are spent to silence these voices and to erase the truth. I am exhausted by this platform and by how our photos and videos, which document real suffering, are treated as “violations of community standards,” as if pain itself has become a crime.

What is happening is not simple moderation or policy enforcement. It is an attempt to erase our existence and bury the truth. And honestly, this is shameful and unbearably painful.

[the original poster has included two screenshots showing the email from bluesky admin informing him that his account has been taken down for being 'spammy, inauthentic or disruptive to users'. it's the standard boilerplate you get when they take moderation action.]

Because the lessons of the Holocaust is not that we "shouldn't do a Holocaust", it's that we should oppose the conditions that made the cruelty of the Holocaust possible at all: authoritarianism, laws of the strongest, scapegoating and oppression of minorities, normalizing apartheid & genocide, etc.
