Yesterday was a brilliant day for children’s legal rights in Scotland. We still have 223000 children and young people out of school. “ ghost “ children no ones sees or hears. We have a massive delivery problem at local authority level. The gap between legislation, policy and practice is huge.

Parents are as excluded as their children and young people. We aren’t included in the discussion despite the legislation.the mood is low after yesterday. Without changing the fundamentals of environmental and training nothing will change for our families. More and more are going to be excluded.

We need #calums law. Teachers require statutory training to come in line with other professions like nursing. Restraint and seclusion are damaging practices illegal in other settings like nursing homes for very good reasons. Children need same protections in law. @bethmorrison.bsky.social
