I don’t struggle with social cognition. I run it explicitly, on purpose, with effort while you do it on autopilot and call that “natural.” That’s not a deficit. That’s a different engine doing the same job with less fuel efficiency and more honesty. #ActuallyAutistic

Just a heads up on how I use Bluesky: I'm a batch poster. I write a bunch of thoughts down and drop them all at once. It lets me value and engage with social media without letting it consume my entire day. Much easier to manage this way!

There’s something about the autistic experience of being fundamentally alien to the world around you that makes the question of meaning unavoidable. You can’t drift. You have to decide what you think is true.

Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith for me. It’s the engine of it. The autistic brain won’t let you rest in comfortable uncertainty. So you keep going. And sometimes going further in is how you find your way through.

The Good Samaritan isn’t a story about being nice. It’s a story about who your neighbour is when you’d rather they weren’t. The priest walked past. The Levite walked past. The one with every social reason not to stop stopped. That’s the standard Jesus set.

The Beatitudes aren’t comfort for the comfortable. Blessed are the poor. The mourning. The meek. The persecuted. Jesus looked at the people the world had written off and said: the kingdom belongs to them. Not someday. Now.

I mask. I have masked my whole life, politically, socially, religiously. The moment I stopped, faith became real rather than performed. I don’t think that’s coincidence. You cannot encounter God as someone you’re pretending to be.

Jesus asked more questions than he answered. What do you want me to do for you? Who do you say I am? Do you love me? He wasn’t building a doctrine. He was building a relationship. He still is.

Jesus spent his entire ministry breaking down social barriers and side stepping neurotypical social expectations to look at people's actual hearts. The Gospel is inherently accommodation friendly. 🕊️
