I am aware of the history of 20th century fascism and grew up around Holocaust survivors. When fascism returns, they said, expect indifference or outright cowardice from 90% of your friends, neighbors and colleagues. AND YET, it still shocks me to see this groveling cowardice in real time.

Over 1,000 people just packed into a county Trump won by 34 points to see Abdul El-Sayed. He's running on Medicare for All and taxing the ultra rich, the exact ideas we were told rural voters would never support. Turns out working people everywhere are tired of paying more while billionaires pay less.
Trump country is listening.

Please please please. We need knobs! I just drove a Mini Cooper loaner from the local dealer but had asked if I could have something older. But no. Every time I started the car, I had to redo every setting on the screen. I could NOT have been happier to get my 2015 manual transmission Mini back!!!

If a guard yanks clothes off a trans woman–to satisfy his curiosity or to mock her–cis women are in danger too. I'm cis. I was misgendered most of my life. In public bathrooms, women screamed for cops. I was almost fag-bashed twice. Abusing any woman opens that door. We're all in this together.

#ResistanceRoots Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura was born on this day in 1925 in Gallup, N.M. He is known for being the only soldier whose Medal of Honor was classified Top Secret while he was held as a POW. His story is one of patriotism, bravery, loyalty and humble service against incredible odds. /1
Hiroshi Miyamura was a Staff Sergeant. This photo was taken after Miyamura’s repatriation during Operation Big Switch in August 1953. After spending 28 months as a prisoner of war, he crossed the Demilitarized Zone into the U.N. command center at Panmunjom’s Freedom Village for medical processing, debriefings and transition out of the theater as a newly released POW. Miyamura’s Medal of Honor citation does not adequately express his dedication and self-sacrifice. His acts of courage were focused entirely on protecting his men. During his 28 months as a POW, he grieved over those he believed were lost and felt guilt for failing to protect them. After receiving the Medal of Honor, he viewed himself as its custodian, stating that he wore it not for himself, but on behalf of all the men who never made it home. When he died in November 2022, he was buried with full military honors next to his beloved wife, Terry, leaving behind a legacy of humility and quiet citizenship.

People like the author of the linked piece, who claim people go no contact for trivial reasons don’t want to let other people have the power to say no.
