This is very good news and will help to stop the Far Right getting elected on marginal votes. Now do parliamentary elections.

Just awful: A 75-year-old man just died in ICE custody, ICE has revealed in a notice to Congress. But here's the rub: This man, a Cuban national, was first paroled into the US in 1966—nearly 60 years ago! They were set to deport him anyway. Details in my new piece: newrepublic.com/article/1974...

Bezos Wedding Guests Delighted By Amazon Worker With Ring Tied To Collar Crawling Down Aisle
VENICE, ITALY—Smiling at the couple’s lighthearted twist on a traditional ring bearer, guests at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez were reportedly delighted this week by the sight of an Amazon worker with a ring tied to his collar crawling down the aisle. “Oh my gosh, my heart is melting—such a good boy,” […]

Yeah but also (and forgive the plug here) there is a real connection between different stardoms that emerged in the 20th century. I've a chapter called the Consecration and Desecration of the 20th century Star on my book journalism and celebrity that does cover Hitler and Bowie within it.

Anyway the Think White Duke was extreme character play. Like Ziggy. It wasn't him but it was him because he was down a rabbit hole of drugs and became overwhelmed by the characters he created.

There's some really interesting interviews during Thin White Duke which feel prophetic and some interesting interviews from the 90s discussing it. It's certainly an incredible moment of drug induced performance art and I think coming out of it was one of the successes of his life.

I've written about the Thin White Duke era. The salutes are a myth. But he certainly did do drug induced fascist cosplay as artistic impression and talked about it later as the darkest time of his life. He normally discussed it in 3rd person as if someone other than him. Anyway it drove his sobriety

Rod Stewart has always been a twat. Bowie used to talk about it from time to time. Also in the early 70s he got my Mam booted from first class on a train when she'd snuck in because he wanted the whole carriage. She didn't know he was even there she was just looking for a seat. Bellend.

Today, I suddenly remembered a moment of real unkindness by a stranger. I was 16 and went for a walk after a traumatic incident. I sat on grass to think. A woman came out of her home and started shouted at me that by being there I was scaring her children. I was just sitting. I was also a child..
