I couldn't agree more! It was truly inspiring to hear about Dr. Grant's foundational Darwin finches research with the personal and societal context around it! We're aiming to keep having the @bes-evolecol.bsky.social webinars be talks not just on great science but also the people behind them!

Rosemary Grant telling us in her @bes-evolecol.bsky.social webinar that even after finishing school, as a woman she was not allowed to open a bank account without a man accompanying her. Ghastly experience, but wonderful to hear of the early steps on her path to such enormous scientific impact.

What a fabulous study! Coevolution between plants and animals not only inspires our banner image, but famously was something CharlesDarwin understood so well that he was able to predict the existence of a moth species based wholly on the shape of a flower he posited it must pollinate.

Both @bes-evolecol.bsky.social founders are at the conference, so do grab Lizy Mittell or @sevans.bsky.social to say hi - especially if you’re interested in a role on our group committee.

Sooo looking forward to this, not least because it’ll be where our Special Interest Group officially gets started. It’s going to be wonderful to bring our community together at its own dedicated conference. We’ve also got lots planned for the coming year to maintain that community…
