Chocolate chiffon and ganache cake. Probably the best thing I've baked in a very long time, in celebration of #GBBO.
Two very chocolatey cakes, the one in the foreground glistening with bad-for-you ganache topping.

Every so often I shock myself with competence. Gave my old, battered gravel bike a new lease of life with a new drivetrain and other bits. V happy that I spent the money on components rather than flogging or binning it.

There's a lot of crap going on in the world. But the Great British Bake Off is back on which is a tiny bit of relief. #GBBO

Incredibly depressing to see the chart stream completely dry - the first time I've seen it in this state. We're really reaping what we've sewn with this hot, dry, unprecedented summer which is clearly driven by climate change.

Absolute nightmare trying to find a working charger on the Isle of Wight today. The payoff is you can't do this with your average petrol car...

I don't think I'll ever tire of this view. #IsleOfWight

Reason #4,711 why I love bikes: what other form of transport can take you 65 miles across counties, powered by nothing more than sugar puffs, coffee, last night's pizza, and a flapjack?

Seaside views don't get more quintessential than this! Well, perhaps if it was raining, which it probably will be in the next hour. #Eastbourne

Massive misuse of the govt alert system. Wildfires are terrible, but they're all over the media. The alert should be saved for war, terror attacks, and things that are putting the whole population in imminent danger.

Filling out legal forms 'helped' by Tom the cat. #caturday
A selfie of me (39 year old, slightly haggard white man) with a one eyed tabby and white cat called tom. I'm trying to fill out forms and the picture shows him helpfully gnawing the end of my pen. He has a look of madness in his remaining eye, hinting as his dedication to this act of low-level anarchy.

Very much enjoyed the drive down to Portsmouth for the ferry to the island. EVs really are the way forward - when cycling and public transport is impractical... #Renault4 #EV

Back after an overnight bikepacking trip. Reasons #7,563 and #7,564 why bikes are great: we each carried an entire camping setup on our bikes with ease, and, I travelled almost 37 miles at over 11mph using less energy than an old incandescent lightbulb. #cycling #bikes #CoolBikes

Lovely gravel ride this morning, almost 40 miles of near solitude and lovely views. #cycling #kent #Canterbury #Whitstable #Swale

Growth is finite and the capitalist economy dictates it. GCSE Geography teaches you about Kondratiev cycles. The benefits of not driving a car are outside of this. Wes Streeting is a moron, who, in photographs, always cuts the figure of someone whose arse smelled worse than the fart he imagined.

There's lots to love about Berlin. History, iconic places, amazing museums and parks, currywurst, very interesting culture and vibes. But the bike culture is next level. I love it as much as it makes me angry at how crap the UK is.
A random Berlin street lined with bike after bike on both sides of the pavement, while people walk through in the spring sunshine.

Tom: a landscape. #CatsofBluesky #Cat #Tabby
A one eyed tabby and white cat, sat in a loaf. His expression is now one of bliss. With the sun on his side, he's forgotten about his fleeting encounter with societal issues and is now thinking of nothing. Pure smooth brain.

Tom: a portrait. #CatsofBluesky #Cat #OneEyedCat
A one eyed tabby and white cat looking at the camera. His stern expression suggests deep contemplation about societal ills, as well as concern for the environment that nurtured his very species. But the reality is he's probably just thinking of food.

First Bluesky post in ages. Just to say, my previously under bed cat is now a friendly sofa cat who just wants strokes and fuss. A year ago he wouldn't come near a human. Now, he just wants strokes - from me, but we'll get there with other people. What a lad. @thecatreviewer.bsky.social

I've relied upon the BBC as a news source for years now. Impartial and accurate, it's kinda what news should be. But increasingly it pushes right wing stories. Opinion is leaking into it. Doesn't take a genuins to work out how and why.
