In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive - because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force."

I think these modes of playing are less talked about, but often understood - playing in the character creator by diving into the text, playing in worldbuilding by looking at tables and historical reference, playing in the real-life calendar juggling schedules to get everyone together.

Not to be glib, or in anyway downplay the work that the amazing refs did, but the vast majority of the time I spent "playing" was in one of those two modes - reading other peoples' reports of their sessions, and then updating the various spreadsheets recording important info. I loved it!

Today, the UN officially designated Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide. As a party to the Genocide Convention, the U.S. has a legal obligation to obey our own laws, stop weapons sales to Israel, and demand a permanent ceasefire. End the genocide. Ceasefire now.
257. The Commission recommends that all Member States:
(a) Employ all means reasonably available to them to prevent the commission of genocide in the Gaza Strip;
(b) Cease the transfer of arms and other equipment or items, including jet fuel, to the State of Israel or third States where there is reason to suspect their use in military operations that have involved or could involve the commission of genocide;
(c) Ensure individuals and corporations in their territories and within their jurisdiction are not involved in the commission of genocide, aiding and assisting the commission of genocide or incitement to commit genocide and investigate and prosecute those who may be implicated in these crimes under international law;
(d) Facilitate the investigations and domestic proceedings and take action (including imposing sanctions) against the State of Israel and against individuals or corporations that are involved in or facilitating the commission of genocide or incitement to commit genocide;
(e) Cooperate with the investigation of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
258. The Commission recommends that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court:
(a) Examine, within its continuing investigation in the Situation in the State of Palestine, the crime of genocide for amendment to existing arrest warrants and addition to future application for arrest warrants;
(b) Examine the involvement of officials mentioned in this report for inclusion as those most responsible for international crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Excellent piece. Read it.
In this post, however, I want to draw attention to a different aspect of this
conservative crusade: how the administration is actively reshaping the contours of Jewish identity, claiming the power to determine who counts as a real Jew, and who does not. In this emerging framework, only those who are "real" Jews, or "good" Jews can define and experience antisemitism. By contrast, other Jews, especially anti-Zionist Jews, are "bad Jews." Increasingly, law and economic power are being leveraged to materialize these distinctions. By virtue of understanding how Jewish identity is being constructed, we can more effectively confront the Trump administration's broader white supremacist agenda, of which this "pro-Israel antisemitism" is a
core part.

An IU professor is being investigated for violating the state’s ‘intellectual diversity’ law based on an anonymous complaint escalated by administration in a case that could cost him tenure. His ‘crime’? Discussing a personal experience being arrested for civil disobedience at an Israeli consulate.
Robinson said he discussed being jailed for civil disobedience while protesting at an Israeli Consulate. He said it was a lesson on the master-slave dialectic, the prisoner’s dilemma and what it’s like being in prison. Robinson has been involved in activism and support for Palestine, among several other causes on campus.

🍃my piece for @hieronzine.bsky.social🌿 from roots to shoots 🌱 a little trip out to see the grandkids #friendsatthetable 🍂 #hieron
a two page spread of Hadrian, Rosana, Ace, Throndir, Kodiak and Red Jack walking down a winding path through the rhizome to visit their children and grandchildren. Hadrian, Rosana, and KodiaK are all visibly aging.

Red Jack leads the procession of grandparents, holding a lantern up in one hand and a picnic basket in the other. He's following a fox made entirely of flowers that stands on a tuft of moss farther down the path. In a sling on Red Jack's back is Kodiak (too old to walk very far), who rests a paw on Throndir's shoulder.

Throndir is smiling up at Kodiak and leading Ace by the reins. Small in Ace's saddle are Hadrian and Rosana; Rosana is knitting and Hadrian is slumped against her asleep but still holding her yarn ball.

On the opposite page in the distance Benjamin and Blue J tend a campfire. Ben has a horned toddler in his lap and is helping it stir a large pot of soup. Blue J is helping a curly haired toddler carry a giant piece of bark to add to the flame.

Around them is evidence of an established camp; their tent is two giant leaves held together with stitching and a twig. nearby on a lawn of moss there are two gigantic tree hopper nymphs, a rope tied around the spines on their backs leashing them to the area. one feeds on a large root that has grown over the branch, producing a bead of honeydew. the same image, but 40% brighter. the original is plenty bright on my screen but it's very dark in the print so i'm assuming it may be too dark on other screens, too.

it's @hieronzine.bsky.social posting day! I was inspired by the mini-game of Samot and the Wolf God in Autumn #friendsatthetable
A watercolor illustration inspired by medieval manuscripts. In the center, Samot stands in front of a large moon, looking directly at the viewer. A wolf bites his right hand. The top border shows a large dragon, resting on top of a cracked mountain. The left border shows a rooted branch with flowers growing on it. The root begins in darkness, then lightens as it continues upwards. The right border shows a bottle of wine. Spilling out of it is filigree, wolves, and books. The bottom border is a ruined tower.

For the @hieronzine.bsky.social, I did our Mother Glory piece, revisiting the scene from Winter that I turn over in my brain all the time. "Did You Try?" #FriendsAtTheTable
In dawn light, Fero trudges through the snow (against wind) up a hill overlooking a district of a halfling city, their twee architecture covered in snow. Lights on in the dim light. A crowd gathers in a square, around a lit platform, where an orator reads off a scroll careening through the wind. At the base of the hill guards surround a house-sized cage in which sits Mother Glory, an enormous Gnoll, in chains. Her body faces towards her execution platform. Her face glances back towards Fero.
