The triple lock on the State Pension is a terribly designed policy that manages to both under-deliver and over-cost. The money saved from adjusting it could be far better spent elsewhere ⤵️ buff.ly/dviy5zU
David Willetts, President of the Resolution Foundation, said:
“The Prime Minister deserves credit for announcing what many politicians have been saying in private for some time – that the triple lock is unsustainable and needs to go. Continuing with the policy into the next parliament and beyond could end up costing tens of billions of pounds a year – money that could be far better spent elsewhere.”

Not to put words in anyone's mouths, but look out for the prominent British, Jewish, otherwise vociferous Zionists who are notable absentees from the chorus attacking the Uk's new sanctions. Because even among those who traditionally take a pro-Israel view, settlements are a big dividing line.

I've written about the Joshua Bonehill-Paine saga www.jewishnews.co.uk/politics-ext...
In 2011, a young Conservative party member broke into a police station late at night. When he was subsequently arrested by the police, he told them that he had used his Conservative Party membership card to force the lock and open the door.
At the time, Joshua Bonehill-Paine had recently failed in his attempt to be selected as a local council candidate in South Somerset. But 15 years later, after becoming a Neo-Nazi and being found guilty of a number of further offences in the interim, including inciting racial hatred against Jews and racially aggravated harassment against then-Labour MP Luciana Berger, he didn’t need to use his Conservative membership card to force any doors – the party itself opened the door for him. Bonehill-Paine, who had renounced his past beliefs, was finally selected as a council candidate in South Somerset.
