A single boolean is benign, friendly. A pair of booleans responsible for configuring a single outcome is a malevolent evil

Yes, none of this is strictly new, but it’s clear the technology is catching up to promises and I’m excited to see where it goes beyond the expected use cases and of course play with it myself

I’m envisioning an arrangement where all geometry regen and visualization is done at the client or a service operated by the client and the core model definition is what gets synced. Deterministic regen becomes even more critically important than it is already. God bless our brep kernel troops

You can build different clients for different use cases on top of the same synced model representation. A significant use case is a client for diffing the outcome of the same model definition across two different geometry services or diffing outcomes of definitions against each other

Escaping vendor lock in with CAD is also big. Model definition translation is still of course a problem, but eliminating data control issues is huge www.youtube.com/watch?v=--Ru...

Blown away by the work being done on commoditized syncing fundamentals. Next gen CAD companies could forgo developing bespoke collaboration, permissions, and storage services and focus on “just” the client, parametric model definition, and geometry service

Is the engine still tessellating all the intermediate model states before execution finishes? I’m wondering if tessellation blocks the kcl-engine interaction loop

My neighbor told me his paid dependency keeps having bugs so I asked how many bugs he’s found and he said he just reproduces them, emails the vendor, and gets a new update afterwards that surfaces other bugs so I said it sounds like you’re paying to QA decades old software and he started crying

Outside testing they have a strong ability to assess the overall product and decide (with UX) if quirks of the implementation fit the big picture or not, where devs are more narrowly engaged and without that insight often overthink minutiae and/or actively permit edge cases that QA would block

Prototyped in translucent purple if you’re into that. Vase mode was fun. Turns out if you make pinch points < 2x the nozzle diameter you can get distinct closed regions from a single continuous spiral, which is great for strength

I have this problem with tests that may panic and I want the test context to async drop the DB it created before exiting the test.. I should probably impl drop for it & block on the process or make a panic handler that does the cleanup

Here are the prototype internals, just containing a 22000uf capacitor to compensate for intermittency in power & some wiring to share the track contacts between the motors. The plan is to pack a pi pico, nfc board, and motor controller in there as well

This Issue Has Objectively Caused Many Bugs vs. I Don't Think So
I personally think that in a systems programming language, a pointer
is a reasonable concept: it intuitively represents a memory address.
I don't personally think that permitting pointers to be nil is a
billion dollar mistake. In my C/C++ programming I've never noticed
that NULL pointers are a noticeable source of bugs.
