A single boolean is benign, friendly. A pair of booleans responsible for configuring a single outcome is a malevolent evil

Blown away by the work being done on commoditized syncing fundamentals. Next gen CAD companies could forgo developing bespoke collaboration, permissions, and storage services and focus on “just” the client, parametric model definition, and geometry service

My neighbor told me his paid dependency keeps having bugs so I asked how many bugs he’s found and he said he just reproduces them, emails the vendor, and gets a new update afterwards that surfaces other bugs so I said it sounds like you’re paying to QA decades old software and he started crying

Big thanks to @techsquidtv.com & @indyhall.org for having me last week. I talked about what goes into making parametric CAD software and why it’s not yet a solved problem! Also showed off this lamp I designed from a 2d array of 8020 extrusion profiles
Me talking about CAD with an onshape document on screenThe lampshade from the onshape document printed in translucent green & illuminated

This Issue Has Objectively Caused Many Bugs vs. I Don't Think So
I personally think that in a systems programming language, a pointer
is a reasonable concept: it intuitively represents a memory address.
I don't personally think that permitting pointers to be nil is a
billion dollar mistake. In my C/C++ programming I've never noticed
that NULL pointers are a noticeable source of bugs.
