Doing this while also trying to do wage suppression with the Protect College Sports Act is just truly avaricious and nasty. I have nothing but contempt for everybody who is making this happen.

My Red card discourse: VAR protocol: intensity to be judged at normal speed not slow mo. Slow motion decided it. Bad Article 27 allows a red suspension. FIFA invoked Article 27 under U.S. pressure. Not great for sporting integrity, but they didn’t invent a rule. It’s fine to admit all of that.

Wow, this game’s really flying now. Sure hope it keeps up this energy for the rest of the half. Can’t imagine there’d be any huge, awkward stoppage they could rob it of its momentum.

MARTA is the largest transit system in the U.S. to receive no dedicated operations funding (for salaries & more) from its state. Without more operations money, MARTA can't truly expand service. It can only shift resources around. When will leaders finally address this?

Preface. MARTA is a mess. And any violence on MARTA should be investigated thoroughly and holistically. That said. This federal investigation is a political witch-hunt created solely to bolster untrue, cynical GOP tough-on-crime election messaging that the City of Atlanta is a criminal hellhole.

Largely agree. With the current board (a who’s who of non-rider social status appointments) it’ll take some luck to get someone competent and capable of managing an underfunded org stuck in a malaise era

They won’t convince any high quality transit leader to come in and turn the agency around. The only industry options will be another midsize system CEO (who will get eaten alive), a lesser C-level at a major agency that looks at it as a 2-year gig, or a consulting executive. Bad choices.

*takes a deep breath* *jumps into the MARTA discourse* The agency’s next CEO needs to be from outside the transit world, and someone focused on organizational transformation. You can’t fix any of the service/delivery issues without first fixing the culture and workforce.

It's mildly infuriating that MARTA uses more than half of the screens in the station to scroll pointless messages - in this case, about escalator safety. The number one thing we want to see on this screen is upcoming trains. #MARTA #transit
A digital screen in a marta station reading:

Airport
Arriving
"....single file; one person, per step. Avoid traveling on escalators with a bicycle..."

Yeah not ideal pricing here in GA given how cheap electricity is. I’ve found generally that non home LV2 charging is a bit ridiculously priced Still, been cheaper than my old ICE car so won’t complain too much

Ben @benistryingbsky.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
33 cents a kWh, Kia EV9. I charged at my office Blink lvl2 charger, which has a stupid hourly fee on top of the per kWh price and the session fee, but it works out to 33 cents a kWh. actual running cost is less since I will occasionally charge at my gf’s apartment’s free charger

Welcome to ATL! MARTA is going through a big transition rn (new fair-gates/payment method, bus network redesign last weekend, new trains in a few months) so it’s gonna be a bit atypical. FYI: The train is essentially free till early May while they replace the fair-gates

We’re more than a decade into the era of cellular-connected cars and paid data subscriptions, yet no one has delivered a truly compelling use case to subscribe beyond remote-starting the AC from your phone (which, to be fair, is great).

I strongly suspect there isn’t consumer demand for passenger screens, but the idea of recurring revenue (“subscribe to MB Connect to watch YouTube on your hyper-screen”) is the driver of the passenger screen push.

Blazer is such a hard sell: $$$, not class leading in range/efficiency/charging, lacks Carplay/AA, and has a plastic look to it (tho I dig the red and blue colors) FWIW: the Prologue + Mach-E look better + Carplay/AA, the Model Y is more efficient, and Ioniq 5 is cheaper/better charging

New Years we did ATL to DC, then DC down to Highlands, NC then back to Atlanta in my EV9. Was easy and painless as well. Used EVGO, RAN, IONNA, and EA all worked great. Pretty impressed with the infrastructure improvements of the last two years.

Fair. Even then, I remain a bit confused on expected pricing. If a leaf/bolt can be MSRP 28-30k (give or take) this feels like MSRP should be 20-23k. Is it just legacy OEM parts supplier pricing is that much better?
