A powerful film with a queer romance, a captivating, lyrical voice, and a clear political message, Neptune Frost confronts the stereotype that people living in African nations don’t know or aren’t connected to the modern technological world:

There has been a mini-renaissance lately of TV shows adapting great Latinx SF! 100 Years of Solitude, Like Water for Chocolate, El eternauta, House of the Spirits, and the horror stories of Mariana Enriquez. Check out my Reactor article for a rundown - including advice on proper prep for reach show!

I feel the same way! Loved the original film of Como aqua para chocolate and wish I'd mentioned that too! And even with that one I see the benefit of the longer TV series format for adapting such wonderful sweeping novels.

It's a high-stakes trial this week in X-Men '97, and I'm hoping pterodactyls don't swoop in and- well, you'll just have to see. “Strange Land, Savage Heart” spotlights Nightcrawler and the ongoing prejudice against mutants:

Issue 2 has two reprinted stories you can't currently read anywhere else online, made possible by our incredible 2025 Kickstarter backers! The first is @benfrancisco.bsky.social's “Two People," an aching tale of self-discovery and sea beasts. 🌊 Read it here: othersidespec.com/pieces/two-p...

Quote from the reprint story "Two People" by Ben Francisco in OTHERSIDE Issue 2. The quote reads: As I awake one morning from difficult dreams, I find that my husband has transformed into two people. One Ezequiel lies beside me in our bed, as always, half-sitting up and typing furiously on his laptop. The other Ezequiel sits on the floor beside the bed, his legs crossed and eyes closed, meditating.
