Required qualifications: M.Sc. with a strong academic background in Critical Zone or environmental science, hydrology, forestry, natural resources, soil science, or similar. Proficiency in one programming language (python or R). Evidence of self-motivation, independence, and interest in research. Strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired qualification: Experience with scientific writing, knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning models, GIS skills.
Benefits: Tuition and student health insurance, $30,000 annual stipend.
Desired start date: July 2026
Interested students should fill in this form by May 25 and may wish to email Dr. Matthias Sprenger (mspreng@ncsu.edu) if there are any questions.
