The A QUIET PLACE movies are so much better than they have any right to be. Still remember BAWLING in the theatre during the climax in the first film.

My contract ended and I'm open for my next remote opportunity — software engineer or full-stack, whatever fits. PHP/JS generalist (I don't tie myself to one tech stack). If your team needs someone who learns fast and ships, zaher.dev has the details. Repost appreciated.

I feel so honored to be part of this @phparch.com team, and I am so proud of the hard work they put into PHP/JS Tek. It was a wild one, but I'll save that tea for the podcast this Thursday.

“duplication is far cheaper than the wrong abstraction” - Sandi Metz in “All the little things” at RailsConf 2014 The quote is often put out of context to support the idea it’s always better to postpone the abstraction until there’s enough duplication. #SoftwareDevelopment #oop

Isolation at a VM level. Main reason I set it up was to install HAOS and didn't want to dedicate a whole system to running it on bare metal.

I’m not sure, to be honest. Doesn’t seem to be better or worse than anything else. It *feels* different than Discord or Slack and took a lot to get used to it. But, self-hosted is better than nothing since my workplace would not be able to use any cloud-hosted communication tools.

I’ve had to use self-hosted Zulip at the day job. Might not be completed supported by all the agents out of the box, but if you are able to hack the integrations, might be an option to host your own?

Are there any self-contained Markdown slide apps like deckset but work on Windows? Slidev looks interesting but seems like it's more of a "repo is a self-contained slide deck" and not a "use this app to open arbitrary Markdown slide decks."

Happy WezTerm user. wezterm.org I can't remember why I switched from iTerm2 initially. Combination of performance (GPU rendering) and easier configurability via dotfiles / nix-darwin? I'm also happy that it works on Windows, too, now that I have to work on a Windows workstation for the day job. :)

Likely. Recognizing the "bottleneck" or "cap" is a good first start, but firing them is maybe not the best solution. Protecting them and focusing them is an arguably better first step, especially if there of there is no ill intent at play by said programmer.
