Adelaide teenager Max Peruzzi, 17, has been left housebound after developing POTS following a COVID infection in 2022. He suffers from extreme fatigue, brain fog, dizziness and a racing heart. "The researcher said virus’, such as COVID or glandular fever, trigger an immune disorder such as POTS"
A screenshot of a news article from The Advertiser online edition, dated October 9, 2026.
The headline reads: "Adelaide teenager Max Peruzzi left housebound by debilitating POTS condition after contracting Covid." A subheadline explains that the 17-year-old South Australian has missed school and developed depression due to the condition, which has no known cure. The article is written by Evangeline Polymeneas.
Below the text is a large photograph of Max Peruzzi, a young male with short brown hair wearing a light grey hoodie. He is pictured outdoors, looking off to the side while holding a small, black Tragus Nerve Stimulator device into his right ear. The device connects to a white wire. The image caption confirms he uses the device to help manage his POTS symptoms.

In addition to producing hazardous air pollution and endangering pets and wildlife, fireworks make the 4th of July the most common day for human-started wildfires in the US. The West is a tinderbox - maybe it’s time to consider alternatives without catastrophic consequences.
A graph (frequency distribution) showing number of wildfires caused by lightning (purple) and humans (red) by day of year for the coterminous United States from 1992 to 2012. There is a sharp spike in human-caused fires on July 4 (annotation pointing to this spike added by me).
