@helenkennedy.com that looks double the size of the original? A distressed leather folder is about 1/10 of that, a second hand leather bound book 1/10 of that again-then just print the whole thing (available online) on heavy paper and distress it with tea

@gazza-d.bsky.social well, NI has had the R plate since 1968! Long before the current devolved assembly - it was the old Parliament of Northern Ireland, dissolved in 1972 after making a mess of things. The change is extending it from 1 to 2 years.

@Edent I didn't wear a watch for decades and only got one for running, so it could play music and tell me split times from GPS. Both of those are just audio, I don't look at the screen or go online; I don't wear it unless I'm running and don't use it to tell the time

Just watched Ryan Reynolds vehicle Mayday on Prime; actually Branagh has much more fun in the movie - but was surprised by the attention to detail on the very last shot; a drone view rising in Washington DC in 1987 around 5th St SE looking to the Washington Monument. The film was set in 87, and […]

@lynneguist.bsky.social a running gag in Pratchett is 'eldritch' means 'oblong'. eg Feegle Glossary: "Eldritch: Weird, strange. Sometimes means oblong, too, for some reason."; Vetinari works in the Oblong Office, and I guess it's not clear which was meant.

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title. Seven crew and the ship's cat stop to pick up some eggs on the way home, at the end cat curls up to sleep with one of the crew.

TIL: when the UK adopted the Gregorian Calendar in 1752, they also shifted the new year in England&Wales to 1st Jan from 25th March. Why March 25th? It was Lady Day (the annunciation), a traditional "quarter day" when taxes were due. And because the calendar change shifted dates by 11 days, that […]
