While we were (legitimately) raging about last season’s refereeing, Arteta, Mr ‘Control the Controllables’, did some things about it, and we went a season with 0 reds, 0 penalties conceded, and the league’s fewest yellows. Yet another year where he fixes the weaknesses. Incredible.

Just leaving it there before retiring: the over-ruling of the penalty awarded for the foul on Eberechi Eze is incomprehensible. Why VAR intervenes is a mystery. Why the referee does not ask his VAR team if they're joking is another one. I'd say the same if Dominic Solanke, not Eze, had been fouled.

Chelsea and Man City in the FA Cup final. No other English clubs have systematically ignored, bent or broken the rules like both have done.
