Really wanting to invoke the frustration of "it feels like I'm talking through emojis" when Tellari speak it, instead of using their full suite of communication for proper nuance.

So I think have other sets of sounds they use instead, like clicks, growls, scale taps and ruffles, and a bunch of distinct murmurs. All these sounds need to not just be easy for them to make, but also easy for non-Tellari to hear and distinguish.

They can do all the tongue stuff we can do and then some (long, prehensile, retractable), but they have a reptilian jaw and no lip flexibility to speak of, so sounds that use the lips don't really exist in Tellari-Universal.

We're going to have to find out together! But thank you for planting the seed in my brain so I can really mull it over until we get there 😁 Off the top of my head, I can already say that they can't really make a lot of sounds that make use of our lip structure.

One time I used a smaller book to mark where I left off reading a bigger book and when you find yourself in that position you really have to ask yourself, "what separates us from the beasts?"

The more I look at the creative ways in which people amend their answers, the more I realize I should have done the same! For example, my WIPs may be slow to craft, but they still read like a vomit draft... Also sticky notes are truly the academic's answer.

#Conlangity Tellari-Universal is a language spoken by the Tellari species in my First Light series. It is constructed, simplified version of Tellari-Contextual, that cuts out all of the nonverbal components (pheromones and kinesics) and tries to patch up what's left with more vocalizations.

Okay, funny gifs aside, please don't feel pressured to do any of that ❤️ it's true I've never been fan-arted before but that doesn't mean you should feel the need to be the first if you end up not vibing with the books! Just you checking out my stuff at all already means a lot!

I love hardcovers aesthetically but they're cumbersome to hold and read. They look better on a shelf but I don't buy books so they look nice on a shelf! Also they hurt less if you fall asleep and drop them on your face while reading in bed

Same! I like to move around a little bit in the morning--walk, exercise, etc.--and get my writing done in the afternoon, after lunch. But night time is just out of the question to me, I'm in sleep mode. Morning, I can at least see happening, assuming I can't go for a walk.
