Getting tired of all of this. Which I guess is their intent (Kudos to Curtis Evans-pictured)

The global left needs to be clear eyed about this. Comfortable middle class people don’t vote for far right parties because of material deprivation. Germans have more economic prosperity now than they ever have. Same is true for Americans.

What if it came from DoD? I mean, the probability that Musk cut it off without alignment with Trump is minimal imho. This goes back to ‘we were just following orders’ (in order not to endanger our RSUs and options)

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

And we have one of the lowest per capita electricity consumption, so the bills are not higher than elsewhere. And we force operators to invest into grid resilience and burry the lines. Others don’t But it’s alright to complain.

Last month, California's power grid supported the highest electricity demand since 2022 without any emergency measures. That was no accident — the Golden State is proving that clean energy and battery storage systems are the best ways to keep the lights on.

And on Kamala: she surely did many things wrong. Even with that, she should have won because the alternative was just ridiculous. And yet. Numbers game. White man as candidate. Progressive. Not too progressive. Yes, I understand how this reads.

‘When you find yourself veering to the right, you don't course correct by going straight.’ I agree. And at the same time, you don’t course correct by going too far left.

and here the calculus is in favor of the candidate where most people can hold their nose while voting. The democratic base is not unified here, some prefer progressives and some moderates. To win, we need both to vote. And yes, the compromise sucks. But it is necessary.

I think we actually agree and my ‘general public’ was too broad. It’s a game of numbers: we don’t have a dark skinned woman president because not all of the electorate can stomach that thought. Kamala filled all the venues too, remember? The topic at hand is how to address *most* of the electorate

barbaricus.bsky.social @barbaricus.bsky.social · 13/10/2026
I can see that. Most candidates with character seem to be too far left for general public and mediocrity is there for everyone to see. However, R’s are going to claim fraud on any and all of tight outcomes. This is THE time to hold the nose and just vote.

I live in non-competitive CA, but that does not mean I am not motivated to vote. If not for anything else, for show of force. It matters if they get 30% or 40% overall and for the demonstrated behavior they must be crushed. Any other outcome shows them this is acceptable. I guess I disagree.

Apparently the reported drop in bot activity is not real as it affects the search bots only, not others. Would like to see confirmation from independent sources. I have to admit, it would make sense and I certainly would wish that it works this way.

Solving city transportation is not Waymo’s problem. And in a city where Uber operates they are a cleaner and safer option. By banning Waymo and keeping Uber, what exactly is the achievement?

barbaricus.bsky.social @barbaricus.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The safety benefits are not theoretical, that is my point. If people don’t switch, there are no more miles travelled than with Uber. So why is Uber not on your list too? If they do switch, they’ll drive safer for them and others, there is less parking space demand in the cities.

If I read this right, you would ban Waymo because- although Waymo itself is safer than human driver and per mile driven causes less fatalities- they did not drive the fatalities across all transportation means down? Analogously, if more people die driving scooters, we can ban public transportation?

a meme - looks like a public service announcement about the safety features and hazards on a plane or train. “How to avoid sexual assault
A QUICK AND EASY GUIDE*
2
3
DON'T PUT DRUGS IN PEOPLE'S DRINKS.
USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM.
If you might sexually assault someone, bring a friend to stop you.
IF SOMEONE IS DRUNK, HIGH, OR ASLEEP, DON'T RAPE THEM.
5
6
CARRY A WHISTLE.
If you might sexually assault someone, blow it until someone stops you.
8
WATCH WHAT YOU WEAR.
If someone's clothes are a problem for you, try wearing a blindfold.
WHEN YOU SEE
SOMEONE WALKING ALONE, LEAVE THEM ALONE.
DON'T FEEL
ENTITLED TO SEX.
Nobody owes you sex.
Flirting isn't consent.
IF YOU'RE ALONE WITH SOMEONE, DON'T SEXUALLY ASSAULT THEM.
THE ONLY PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IS THE PERSON WHO COMMITS IT.”

Math is your friend: 2,000 cycles at 300mi each are 600,000 miles. Your phone battery makes 1,000 cycles easy. Car battery is much better managed and has better longevity. How many gas cars with 600,000 miles do you have in household? And how much did you spend getting there?
