If you still believe OpalApparition used Claude “just twice”, or that she didn’t use it at all, please see her own words. You deserve to know and to care that you were lied to. I and other anti-AI writers she coerced into unknowingly editing AI processed text deserve to be furious at her deception.

I've been wrestling with how to phrase this for few days now and I'm sorry it's not better.
I messed up. I am sorry. [a green bar obscures a few words here] I owe you an explanation and a proper apology, and I want to give that to you because you have been my friends and you deserve to hear it directly from me.
But I can't do that in this exact moment as my life is imploding in ways I can't even fully process yet. I need to step away from the Internet for a while because overall backlash has just consumed me. You all mean very much to me and I'd rather have you hear this from me than otherwise, so I hope you would be willing to listen to me later, but if not, l completely understand.Screenshot from discord in dark mode, black background and pale gray text. I am so embarrassed to have put my faith in you.
I don't want you to be in danger. That is the nicest true thing I can say.

The Magpie Lord by KJ Charles

One thing guaranteed when you open a KJ Charles novel: her sex scenes are as good as her plotting. Here, she gets the prize for most erotically charged use of a magpie back tattoo in fiction. Lucien Vaudrey is the black sheep of her family who didn’t just inherit a gothic estate and a title, but also a host of deadly enemies. With the help of magician Stephen Day and his dark magic, she must defeat them – and even better if this means winding up tangled in the bedsheets together.

Just an FYI for people who may be new to the book banning stuff, when your books are banned it does not mean you’re on “the right side.” It means that your art (and probably you too) is being targeted by right wing extremists for erasure. It means you are being silenced. It’s NOT GOOD.

Interrupting the current farce in the House are Jewish Voice for Peace activists staging a protest to demand a ceasefire in the Cannon House Office Building rotunda. (Photo from CNBC reporters on scene)
A picture of the Cannon rotunda. There is a large group of Jewish Voice for Peace protesters in black shirts holding signs that say things like "Let Gaza live" "ceasefire" "Philly Jews say Never Again Is Now" "Mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living." They fill the middle of the rotunda, many are sitting down. There are folks on the edges in yellow vests who I believe are law enforcement but may be marshals/observers/press? My eyes aren't that great.

an eye opening thing to learn was that the reason golden era simpsons is so packed with songs is apparently because the writers earned little-to-no residuals from the actual episodes, but *did* get sizable residuals from ASCAP for any songs in episodes that they had a songwriting credit on.

One of the best parts of the WGA deal: AI has now hit a brick wall in Hollywood, *and that includes adaptations.* Based on the deal, AI can't be source material. So if you're a publisher, AI novels or graphic novels or whatever just became that much less appealing because *they can't be optioned.*

Ethics
There are many critics of AI technology, both in and outside the industry. One Harper editorial staffer has avoided all the tools that exist. "I think it’s unethical to use it, and think this is just everyone at the top trying to invest in what will make us ‘more efficient’ instead of the tools their employees desperately need: more human support and an end to the hiring freezes," they said. "We are so understaffed and yet our workloads keep increasing. It’s truly untenable. AI is the antithesis of what we aim to do—telling stories about what it means to be human."
