Text from Sam Calhoun’s poem “Stewart’s Point” in ballast 4.2.

White text against chestnut brown background with cartoon image of window with flowers.

Poems text reads “We could crack a window, taste the air still left from the night, inverted, notes of smoke and salt, let it slip in, no labor added to our breathing, easy as the sea breeze that comes later”

Digital broadside of a poem by Jory Mickelson in ballast issue 3.4. Black text on light pink background with black curly line on right side.

Text of poem reads
“So maybe a hotel room's
really a pastoral. It's all there
right on the surface. So, pastoral with comforter
& pillow. Pastoral with telephone on the nightstand. Pastoral
with stranger's pubic hair
on the gleaming toilet seat.”
