Someone in my league did this and they're not winning. Why would you outsource the fun stuff to a robot, and especially why would you outsource the fun stuff to a robot that sucks and won't even win?

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

I remember having to sleep with the lights on after my parents let me watch Poltergeist when I was, what, like 4? Then they let me watch Child’s Play when I was 6 and we had to throw My Kid Sister doll away, I was so traumatized. The 80s were wild, man.

2026 watch #134: In the Mouth of Madness. What if a '90s hack horror writer were a god who could open a Lovecraftian portal to hell in your mind? You know, for fun? Goddamn, man, I love John Carpenter.

It's likely an animated Disney film (Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio were in particularly high VHS rotation), but my weird dad showed his weird kid showed his weird kid Monty Python and the Holy Grail at a formative age and it became a hyperixation, so it might also be that.

2026 watch #132: Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass. At one point I thought, “Surely, this must be almost over,” and I sneaked a look at the time and we were only 15 minutes in. This movie made time move so slowly I genuinely believed it had been 90 minutes.

This should finally and at last show state-sanctioned murder for the farce that it is, shooting a woman up with phenobarbital, failing to kill her because they don’t know what they’re doing, and nursing her back to health or try it again because they don’t have a “protocol.” Fucking shameful.

2026 watch #131: Toy Story 5. I slept on Pixar’s latest because I was so disappointed by Toy Story 4, so imagine my surprise to discover there’s some juice left in the tank. This film has some thoughtful, moving things to say about children, screens, and the nature of play.

2026 watch #130: Resident Evil (2026). Holy shit, they did it, they made a good Resident Evil movie, and they did it by creating a protagonist who responds to the scenario the way I play the video game: poorly and with lots of screaming.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

2026 watch #128: Predators. Christ, what were any of us thinking? The aughts were an absolutely lawless era of reality TV programming, as captured in this documentary about the production of To Catch a Predator. This and Primetime work nicely together as companion pieces investigating its morality.

2026 watch #127: Primetime. “You see how this looks, right?” It’s not just a question for the would-be pedos caught in Chris Hansen’s sting operations orchestrated for ratings, but a question the film asks of its subject - and of those of us entertained by his show. Fucking chilling, man.

It’s very simple. A reality TV host became dictator because he turned down a role for Sharknado 4 and that’s why the king of outer space, who cheats at Diablo, got to kill Africa. Now the economy is controlled by a sex cult that has something to do with Harry Potter fanfic because of robots.
