With the money I'll no longer be spending due to cancelling my subscriptions to DC Comics books, I'm actually saving money, even after subscribing to Gretchen's Patreon!

I really liked Royale because I thought he was sexy with his Cajun accent and rococo costume and I was hoping they'd bring him back to life as part of the plot BUT THEN DC CANCELLED THE SERIES BECAUSE THEY'RE ASSHOLES !!!!!!!!!!

Tim shows up in the last page of Fraction's Batman #1 looking like a tiny tween who easily fits inside a locker, whose voice has not yet dropped and who is surely failing PE class due to his inability to complete a single push-up before his thin frail arms give out and send him careening to the mat

I liked Batgirl #11, I like Tenji and I'm interested to see how he is used in the future, but Cass traveled all the way to a Montana ranch and it felt like that setting wasn't really utilized. (Did I just want more cowgirl Cass? Maybe. Who can say?)

It's crazy that Marvel goes to such lengths to keep their movie scripts secret only to give away everything in the movie trailer

"Brave New World is not a Captain America movie. It’s a movie with Captain America in it." See also: Civil War. It upsets me to see Marvel continue down this road, using Cap (Steve and now Sam) as a lever for the next big event, when all the fans want is another movie like Winter Soldier.

Comics in the Spooky Age 🧛‍♂️🧟‍♀️🎃 @comicsinthega.bsky.social · 15/02/2025

Today is the birthday of comic book artist Nina Albright (Feb. 15, 1907-Feb. 7, 1997). She worked for a number of companies during the Golden Age, including Fiction House, Timely/Marvel, St. John, & Archie.

Four splash pages by her, including two for Miss Victory and two for Molly O'Moore.

I bought an X-Man comic because at first glance I thought it had a blond butch lesbian on the cover but then at second glance I was like wait maybe that's just a man so I had to take it home to find out

Seriously, this book has everything: new-reader onramp to complex lore, unobtrusive callbacks to reward longtime fans, a strong female protagonist, a strong female antagonist, girls kissing, trans rep, body horror, a dragon, a talking corgi, life-changing decisions, medieval weaponry, and Batman!

I'm always pushing the library agenda. Get a library card they have free stuff! You like shopping? Go browse and check a book out, it feels like you're "buying" it but it costs zero dollars for that endorphin hit! They have e-books! Magazines! Movies that aren't on streaming! Fun events!

My reading list for the month is tooooo long lol, I think I've slightly overestimated my ability to focus long-term, but I'm working on it

Still not over how good Something Is Killing the Children was. A series that treats children and their fears with dignity and respect? So 👏 good 👏

Hi! I ran a location of a major comic chain in Chicago for 5 years and can absolutely confirm! When it comes to indie comics, my main focus was always “what are the people signing up for? What do they already want, sight unseen.” There are about 100K indie books. We gotta know what you want!

We have a live example of why they're called "pig-butchering" scammers! They're called that because they use the whole pig, ie, they don't just take a little money from their victims, they slaughter them and use them all. I'm gonna be slow on this thread because I'm doing exhaustive alt text, but:

Post a Superman (featuring @e1lovestonyray.bsky.social🦸🏿‍♂️ )

2 Black people, dressed as Wonder Woman and Superman, (with costumes based on their Earth 23 versions as seen in Final Crisis #7, Nubia and Calvin Ellis). Wonder Woman is sitting on Superman's shoulder with her golden lasso in her fist and Superman has an arm around her legs, smiling up at her.

I came across an outdated guide on image grid sizing crop/proportions for bsky earlier, and I felt it was important to create an updated version! Please use this new guide instead!

Up-to-date BlueSky Crop Aspect Ratio
Crop Sizes for Bluesky as of 18 Oct 2024

By default, single images are uncropped. If image is too tall (Exceeds the 1:2 aspect ratio) then it will be cropped. Single images that are too tall may be scaled down but aspect ratio is preserved

With two images, both of them share a square aspect ratio of 1:1

For three images, the first image is square (1:1) while the other two are half-squares (2:1)

And for 4 images, all of them are 3:2

And the most recent themed sketchbook, started in 2022: Inspired by @gailsimone.bsky.social, the "No Fridging" sketchbook, dedicated to women in comics who have been killed off. To establish the theme, I started it off with the original "fridged" character, Alex DeWitt, by Darryl Banks.

A 2022 convention sketch by Darryl Banks of Alexandra "Alex" DeWitt, standing in front of a brick wall with a piece of tape in her hand. Taped to the wall is a poster with a negation symbol over the words "Women in Fridges" and the signature "Alex DeWitt" in the corner of the poster, establishing the sketchbook's theme of "No Fridging."
