My friends have extended my GFM for my stretch goal of $5000. Collectively, we’re current at 62%, which means we’re in a good place but I need to meet my stretch goal soon. Meeting it means I can cover everything for the rest of the year and easily avoid any risk of being unhomed this year.

Do people younger than Millenials use “like” as a filler word? Or is that just a Millenial thing?

I have a dog that is sensitive to both chicken and beef, so I have become very familiar with all the other options for dog food and treats. And I have come away with just one question. Why do duck treats for dogs always smell so rancid?

they know. they know! no sugarcoating, even! so fucking tell them!!

one question of the survey, with 9 checkbox options:

What concerns, if any, do you have about AI-assisted manga translations? (Select all that apply.)
*
1. Lower overall quality
2. Loss of respect for readers
3. Loss of respect for creators
4. Character personalities changing
5. Cultural references being mistranslated
6. Less work for human translators
7. Ethical concerns
8. Legal concerns
Other: (I typed in: environmental concerns, worse than a fresh human translation)

I’m at a major crossroads: I have until 9/20 to fully secure my housing after an ongoing fight for unemployment and state support as a disabled person. And there’s a direct way that you can help have a tangible effect: you can help me keep my home.

I've talked about the Sameer Project before—an excellent life-saving on-the-ground initiative in Gaza. Since April 2024, they've distributed nearly a quarter of a million meals alone (plus water, medical care, and shelter). But funding has dropped so much that they'll have to shut down without help.

Today is my dog’s 7th birthday. As is tradition, we will be giving him a super fancy birthday dinner ❤️

A white Shiba Inu lying on his side on the floor. In front of them are three birthday-themed toys/plushies in the shape of a present box, a slice of cake, and a birthday hat. He is looking down and away from the camera, because he is not a fan of the pupparazzi

Do you know why airlines are so safe? Because we regulate the ever-loving shit out of them. You don't have to like government regulations. They can be annoying. I promise they have saved your life. They happen when people get hurt or die. Every single one is written in blood.

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.

Just like last year, it's important for King County voters to mail ballots in early. How early? Why not today? Due to mail processing delays by Trump's USPS, ballots mailed just before or on Election Day are at rick of not being counted. If you do wait until the last minute, just use a drop box!

My recommendation remains the same: avoid lettuce if you are not absolutely, affirmatively certain it did not ultimately come from Taylor Farms

As always: if there's any class of people who do not have due process rights, then *nobody* has due process rights, because the government can just claim someone is in that class and there's no process to establish otherwise.

Lately my partner and I have been really into buying used CDs and ripping them (so that we still have them even if the CD dies). My partner bought basically the modern equivalent of an iPod, and they fit so much music on them these days

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

Finally got around to watching the final cour of Beastars and…. yeah, just read the manga. I suppose I should be happy that such a weird manga got 48 episodes of anime, but they sure did not stick the landing. I’d say this one’s another point in the “the manga is almost always better” column.
