My personal #WorldKidLitMonth read has been BUTTERFLY HEART by Swedish Sámi author Moa Backe Åstot, translated by Agnes Broomé. This coming-of-age book reminds me of ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME MARGARET but with slightly older characters (8th grade) and a quest to learn a once-suppressed language. 🦋

Btw here’s the side-by-side. Bigger as with Downpour, but also quite a different vibe this time 👀
The English edition of ゆきのこえ (The Voice of the Snow) is a little bigger and features a more playful image (of the boy jumping up and throwing snow in the air). On the Japanese cover, the boy is standing still listening to the snow, and the design features big, intricate snowflakes.
