There is an option in the atproto environment (which Bluesky is also part of): Leaflet. And based on how that environment works, you'll be the owner of all your data as well (and you can use the same account that you already use for Bluesky) Just figured it might be worth a mention 😊

I have a lot of feelings about how social media has kind of ... ruined the experience of being an artist who is sharing their work online.

White text on a dark gray background.
The text reads:

Back when DeviantArt was new, before even the llamas, there was this unspoken phenomenon. Posting art was an immediate thing, but the engagement and interactions … they came much more slowly than now. People live in a world now where the second you hit “post,” there is an opportunity for a like within 5 minutes. I have seen people delete posts with comments ON THEM just because the person felt like it “bombed” and could do better at a different time of day because it didn’t exceed a certain number within a certain time. When did we get so greedy? When did the single like or comment stop being ENOUGH? Why do we rely so much on the feedback of others to decide if we are enjoying what we make or not?

The art part used to come first. It used to be about what people were passionate about making, not what pleases the mob. I’m done with the mob. It is impossible to please the fucking mob … but letting the art come first? That’s something I feel like I can at least gradually change in myself. Step by step. I want to learn patience, and I want to spend more time getting to know the people who are interested in me and my work. I don’t need to scream in a room full of people and then try to placate the first few people who look my way. If people want to engage with me, they need to step out of the mob and treat me like a person. That’s all I want, anymore. Connection. Genuine and honest connections that take time and take patience.

@ironcircuscomics.bsky.social please please please tell me 3 and 4 won't be this dark. Like I literally would buy 1 and 2 again if it meant lighter colors, it's that bad to me 🥲 it really takes away the joy of reading it when I have to sit there and discern what's even on the page.

I got my Unsounded books in the mail today, which is super exciting! I'm a little disappointed though, the scenes in the new book are SO dark they're almost unreadable unless I really strain my eyes. You don't have to make it physically dark to convey a dark atmosphere... (Old one pictured for ref)

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

I think you might be reading OP's post wrong? To me it's pretty clear that they're annoyed by a large corp doing it with no consequences, not by there being scantily clad characters to begin with. I don't know OP but from how they're talking it sounds to me like they would prefer no censorship.

“authors have no obligation to listen to the opinions of their readership on how the work should progress” does not mean “you aren’t allowed to criticize the work” it just means the author doesn’t have to obey feedback from the general public. Like hello

I hope we're just in some sort of transitional period in fandom/media consumption and this doesn't last, but I really need people to realize that bullying creators for not catering specifically to what they want or expect out of their creations is not, in fact, a good or normal or cool thing to do.

Kasper ⚡⚠️ @aurorapunk.bsky.social · 09/04/2026

I also keep 2-3 separate portfolios up at once that focus on different things since clients often *aren't* art people and like to be shown specifically what they're looking for. So that may be an option to explore too!

I definitely think your painterly stuff is worth showcasing! Maybe it would make more sense to categorize based on something other than style? Something like subject (character, environment, props), genre (fantasy, horror, sci-fi), use (concept, storyboard, illustration).

The only hardline is whether someone is *actually* hurting someone else irl. Feeling grossed out/offended is not the same as getting hurt and assuming someone is dangerous from the fiction they consume is cop shit. Thought Crimes are a fascist concept, censorship is a tool of oppression.

Today I found out that the screen printing shop I work for is closing because they couldn't recover after COVID fucked the supply chain and the cost of everything rose. It's a game only the big businesses can compete in now. I hate this hellscape. Literally the best job I've had, down the drain.

When you have an audience or a business you have to ensure that you always provide a lot more value to people than you extract from them. If you don't then, long term, it all breaks down. Young people I talk to today...they feel like the whole entire world has broken this contract with them.
