Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Totally. It was fun to play from another perspective. Besides, there's a whole bunch of new side quests which are exclusive to that route. It was quite rewarding to play all of them (and I don't mean the in-game rewards). 110

Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 10/03/2026There is something misleading about the inherent assumption that the hypothetical supercomputer is extremely accurate. I'd naively think that would mean it gets at least 9/10 predictions right. So, choosing just the mystery box makes sense to me. If SuperComp is random, then 2 boxes make sense. 100

Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 05/03/2026I'd recommend CachyOS (with KDE Plasma). KDE Plasma should help you with the transition since it resembles Windows' GUI more or less and has many more features. I've stopped my distro hopping with Cachy. It is Arch-based, i.e. rolling release. There are boot-level restore options, so not to worry 020
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 05/03/2026Gaming distro is usually just that they come pre-packaged with all the gaming related stuff. Even so, as long as they are not asking you to pay for FOSS, like a certain Z-OS, the marketing is still fine. Also, Mint doesn't support Wayland well, ergo HDR and VRR won't work. Clearly not for gaming. 040

Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 01/02/2026I haven't used grub in a while. But last I used it, I had to use 'grub2' in some parts of that command. Something like this: sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg 000
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 31/01/2026I use KDE plasma on Cachy. Not sure why it's doing that for you. Resuming from sleep can be an Nvidia driver config problem? In any case, if you see system running, but monitor showing nothing on wake, try Ctrl+Alt+F3 to get to TTY and Ctrl+Alt+F2(or F1) to get back to your GUI environment again. 100
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Been using Cachy for about 6 months now and it has been pretty stable. Haven't even used my boot-level snapshots even once. Cachy also has LTS kernel btw, but I never used it either. But people who need stability can still use it. 000
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Yes, on NVidia, HDR doesn't work in some places. But, it does seem to work for me in games with 'vk-hdr-layer'. Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 31/01/2026I think, here, they mean the type of HDMI cable. If you're using a HDMI 2.1 cable, it should be fine. Also, if you're on KDE Plasma, go to Display Configuration, turn on Adaptive Sync. 000
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Which controller? Is this the case only inside of games? Can you otherwise test to see if it works during configuration? Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Yeah, some competitive multiplayer games have that problem. I mean, games themselves can work. It's just that the anticheat disables Linux support. I think the onus should be on the devs to allow for server-side solutions instead of kernel-level anticheat that is a potential attack vector. 000
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026It already has. You can check on ProtonDB for the game you're interested in. If rated platinum, it will work out of the box. If gold, some tweaks are needed to run it better. Usually, these tweaks are just single line launch commands entered in game's properties. Silver -works, but has issues.protondb.com 100
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Not really. Only Nobara and Zorin does this. Firefox is the defacto standard for Linux users, otherwise. Some distros even go further and try to provide a hardened version of firefox since Mozilla is now trying to bake AI into it. 020

Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026I see. Fedora Media Writer should be fine. If you're trying to dual boot on the same drive, then keep that USB with the Fedora ISO even after install. This is so that, if your Linux bootloader gets corrupted by Windows, you can use that again to fix it. Else, it is ideal to use a separate SSD/HDD. 000
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026What error message is it? Have you disabled SecureBoot in BIOS/UEFI? Which tool are you using to load the ISO on a USB drive? Have you fully downloaded the ISO file? Compare checksum. Try getting into Legacy/Basic Graphics mode in the installation if you face any visual problems. Avoid USB hub. 100
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Yeah, completely agree. There are a few like Tuxedo, System76 and even Dell in some cases (but Dell is in the ICE boycott list, I think), which can have it installed for you. Otherwise, if people are building their desktops, they should get the help of someone to have it installed for them. 210
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Yeah, you have to use what works for you in that case, as people do in niche scenarios. Would be really unwise if anyone asks you to switch there. It's just that a lot of the 'average' users still don't have the awareness that they can still make the switch otherwise. 010
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026If all an average user does is browsing, consuming media, using office applications, gaming on Steam, even coding, then desktop Linux is very much there. For creative stuff and editing, FOSS apps exist, but may not have everything or people might find it hard to switch from what they are used to. 220
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Nice. I tried giving Aurora a shot, but got some install error back when I did. Probably my skill issue. Lol. In any case, if atomic distros let me change firewall to the ones I choose, I'd try them again. Certain parts of it are read-only by its nature and configuring them is harder due to it. 010
Aurora Chrysalis @aurorachrysalis.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Try turning on video hardware acceleration in Discord settings. If that doesn't help, make sure ffmpeg (full version), not just the FOSS version is installed. This might be the case if you're using default Fedora. 100
