If anyone would like to see a short video of a Guinea Pig doing the one thing our national rail providers seem incapable of doing by providing a fast, cost-effective and reliable train service, this is your lucky day.

Murray went on to found Endell Street Military Hospital in London, staffed entirely by women. One of the most successful military hospitals of the war. Its motto was: "Deeds, not Words." When the war ended, she ordered the suffragette flag raised, to the sound of cheers from the male patients.

Rather than protesting the US presence, perhaps CND just need to round up a few groups of lads with vans and organise a few dogging meets/fuel heists in appropriate locations?

Bought a pair of Ariat boots in 2013, had them resoled once so far and they are still going. Not cheap (especially as I got stung for import tax) but definitely worth it!

I used to work in a water testing lab. The food lab on site did work for a nearby chocolate manufacturer, and the amounts sent for testing were way more than needed. So once tests were done, the staff could have at it. The ensuing scrum was quite something!

You can only find them in one place on Earth...
A Venn diagram consisting of two black circles on a white background, with a very small overlap between them. One is labelled "Goths" in a font with little bat-like serifs, and the other is labelled "Beachgoers" in a kind of bubbly, vaguely retro 1950s font. A label reading "In Whitby" in a fairly neutral font has an arrow pointing to the small overlap.

Canadian otters on a Canadian made mug that's handmade and cute and how could you put tariffs on that ???

One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26

I know you all hate the emergency alert about disposable barbeques. But yesterday I watched a man at our hotel breakfast set fire to a toaster by trying to toast a croissant - despite multiple signs telling him not to. Today he tried again. So, you know, calibrate for the average person.

My Mum had a set of Asterix comics in French, used to read them to us (translating to English) when we were little. As we got older they were a good incentive to learn French! We did also have a couple of the (excellent) translations.

We need more frequent and more visible guidance on not starting fires of any kind. We are all used to Great Britain being damp and wet and the fire severity index is not being communicated.
Fire severity index with most of England and Wales orange for very high.

My daughter has just sent me this lovely photo where you get an even better view of the puffin.
A man (me) in a blue coat and grey woolen hat, seen from behind. A puffin is sitting on his head, looking straight at the camera. In the background a grassy slope, then grey sea and sky.

The strangest thing happened today. We went to the uninhabited island of Lunga, west of Mull, to look at the puffins nesting there. I was just taking photos when I felt a thump as something landed quite heavily in my head. It was a puffin! It stayed for about a minute before flying off.
A man with his back to the camera, wearing a blue jacket and a grey woolen hat. A puffin is sitting on top of his head. On the left, an arm holding a mobile phone can be seen. In the background, a green slope and the sea beyond. In this photo the puffin is taking off.

I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
