hey, it's still progress (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 10/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: It's a week later, and Lynx and May are back in Dean's office, who begins, "So, Mr. Linklater--" Lynx interrupts, "Scott's fine." "Yeah, sure," Dean continues. "We got enough rapport. I think."

PANEL 2: "Scott and May, how's the progress?" As Dean asks the question, May hands him her phone. "Read and weep, baby," she says. "AMPLE progress."

PANEL 3: "Locking you up actually worked," Lynx remarks, which Dean overheard and blurts out, "That's very concerning." May, however, ignores him and thanks Lynx, "Don't sweat it."

PANEL 4: Dean takes a closer look of the phone. "Well, everything's in order... except that there's still a week missing."

PANEL 5: Lynx's shocked. "Aw, what?! May, I thought you locked in!" May has a defense however, crying out, "I did!"

PANEL 6: "Well," she remembers, scratching her chin, "I guess there was a tiny slip..."

PANEL 7: Flashback to earlier last week, May was working in the storage room, sitting on the floor, when she found something on Lynx's laptop. "Oh hey, Lynx has Balatro in this."

trust, two way, that whole thing (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 9/20) (reuploaded w/ fixed art) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "You sure about this?" Lynx asks as he open the storage room door, clutching his laptop. "Yeah," May answers.

PANEL 2: "I mean, you locked yourself in a toilet and got productive as hell," May reasons, but Lynx rebuts, "And it got bad and you thought it was funny."

PANEL 3: "It'll be different for me," she explains more, "One, it's a storage room, and two, I trust you!" Lynx, still unsure, mouths out, "Eeh... sure."

PANEL 4: Under his breath, Lynx mutters, "Guess it'd be fun if you got stuck like me." "What?" May seemingly hears him, and he quickly brushes it off with a "Nothin'."

PANEL 5: Suddenly, she snatches his laptop. "Oh, if you're plotting something, laptop's going to the washer," she coldly threatens.

PANEL 6: Lynx closes the door, preparing to lock the room. "'Trust'. Got it," he acknowledges the warning. "See ya in two hours," May says as she pushes the door with her ass.

pray he doesn't alter the deadline further (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 8/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "So, May," Dean grills her, "You're aware that the log's still incomplete, right?" Rubbing her neck, she shamefully agrees, "Yeah..."

PANEL 2: Lynx piles on, "We had a week, man." May starts to excuse herself, "Schoolwork gets hectic before summer break, sorry!"

PANEL 3: Dean tries to calm the situation down, reassuring, "Look, it's okay. The month's not over yet, and with Mr. Linklater's part done, you two're basically halfway there."

PANEL 4: "What the hell, I'll give you another week," Dean adds. "Please make it count." May gratefully accept, "Thank you, I'll lock in this time!"

PANEL 5: As both Lynx and May discuss what to do with the added time, Dean thinks about somehting from their back.

PANEL 6: He crosses his arm and declares with a mutter, "Yeah... this seems familiar."

screech (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 7/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: As Lynx and May prepare for work, May's phone's reminder alarm blares out, "SCREEEEECH," panicking her and cringing Lynx in the process.

PANEL 2: Her phone screeches again, this time during lunch break. It annoys Sabine, sitting next to May.

PANEL 3: The alarm goes off again when she's watching TV back home, this time May barely reacts.

PANEL 4: "SCREEEE--" With a tap, she finally turns off the alarm.

PANEL 5: "Sorry, that was my reminder alarm," she apologizes.

PANEL 6: Turns out, she's now back at Dean's office, talking to him. Lynx, next to her, points out the obvious, "Yeah, we know."

he finds putting things off off-putting (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 6/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: We see Lynx and May's apartment at night.

PANEL 2: They gather all the receipts they have and log them on their phones. "Grilled cheese lunch, April 25th..." Lynx reads, "$3.50 plus 10% tax and 20% tip..." May also adds stuff, "Striped socks, April 11th. $10, no extra charge. Thank you, Sunday market."

PANEL 3: May puts her phone away and plops a stack of paper in front of her. "Think I'm tapping away for today." Lynx reminds her, "You barely log in three days, May." May excuses, "I need to grade this week's homework, I'll get to it!"

PANEL 4: "Sure, but please try to remember," Lynx warns. "You're four days behind me." Pulling up her phone again, May mumbles, "I'll set a reminder or something."

PANEL 5: She shows her phone, reminder now set. "There," she sternly tells him.

PANEL 6: "Make sure you pick the most annoying ring for it," Lynx points out. "How does LTrainBrakeScreech.mp3 sound to you?" May says, giving him a closer look.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: an emo teenager is sitting with his family at a table in a casual restaurant. While his parents chat, he looks at another table solemnly. There is a dark aura emanating off him. Panel 2: a similar scene across the restaurant- an emo girl with her family; her little brother is absolutely housing a cheeseburger. She stares back at the guy across the restaurant, while also emitting a dark aura. Panel 3: the two teenagers eyes are locked on each other. In a shared thought bubble, which drowns out all the surrounding ambience, they imagine themselves as anthropomorphic wolves, embracing while they ride a motorcycle down a dark and lonely road through the black of night.

bookkeeping used to MEAN something (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 5/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: Dean focuses back to work. "Anyway, you're here for consultation?" Lynx answers, "Right. We need help planning a budget."

PANEL 2: "Do you have a log of your purchases this month?" Dean asks with a slightly bored tone. "Log?" Lynx asks back. "Like receipts?"

PANEL 3: We see a laptop screen with window open, showing a complex looking math equation. Dean explains, "So, we have a formula to calculate these things and we expect our clients to record any purchases to run it. It's just how it is."

PANEL 4: May and Lynx look at each other. "I don't think we... did that," she reminds him. "Yeah, my editor-in-chief didn't say anything about that," he acknowledges.

PANEL 5: "That's fine, now you know," Dean leans back, understanding. "Tell y'what, we'll meet again next week."

PANEL 6: "Do we need one of those big ledger books for our record?" May asks him. "If you feel like living during The Gilded Age, why not," he jokingly replied.

heh, nerds (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 4/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: The three are seated. "You two know each other?" asks Lynx. "We were in our college's book club," Dean quickly answers.

PANEL 2: May's still drawing a blank. "I'm sorry, but... my memory is TERRIBLE." Dean tells her, "Hang on," while unlocking his phone.

PANEL 3: He shows her a photo of both of them in a party. Dean dresses as a cockroach, while May dresses as an old man with two basketballs. "Here's us during Halloween," Dean reminds her. "We were discussing Kafka at the time, but no one really got your costume." She remembers, "Ah, yeah, my Blumfeld! Compared to your Gregor Samsa, I was nothing."

PANEL 4: "Oh!" She clicks it all together. "You're the only business major in the club!" Dean sounds proud, saying, "Yeah, tried expanding my horizons and all."

PANEL 5: A bit embarrassed, May recalls, "Damn, we used to debate a lot." Dean concurs, "True."

PANEL 6: They both proclaim, "And I was right," proudly, while Lynx looks at them in amusement.

PANEL 7: Both of them stares at each other, slightly irate. Lynx rolls his eye.

accounting truly is a noble profession (another comic about cats in: budgeting, page 3/20) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "Op-- Hey, he's ready," Lynx says as he checks his phone. With a callous attitude, May goes, "Finally. Let's get this over with!"

PANEL 2: They walk through a corridor. "May, be professional," he warns her. "It's especially important for you to know about our summer budget." May sarcastically answers, "Sure, call out the teacher going out of a job."

PANEL 3: "Can't we just figure it out ourselves?" She invokes as they approach the office. "Nah, it's better to have someone smarter do it," He assures. "Like an accountant."

PANEL 4: They enter the room. "Good morning," the accountant welcomes them.

PANEL 5: He checks his laptop. "Mr. Scott Linklater and a plus-one... a Ms. O'Ryan... wait."

PANEL 6: He looks up at them, calling out, "Oh, shoot, May?!" On his shirt, he has a nametag that says "Dean S."

PANEL 7: May tries to remember who he is, while Lynx looks at her curiously.

PANEL 8: "...Dan," she guesses. "That nametag says 'Dean,'" Lynx corrects her.

PANEL 1: Flashback to days earlier. "So you spent two more hours locked in the toilet??" May asks in amusement.

PANEL 2: Both her and Lynx are waiting in a small lounge. "Don't pout, it's funny!" She assures him. "Easy to say when you're not thinking about your hubris," he retorts, slumping on the couch.

PANEL 3: He continues, "I'm working on a big story that needs my undivided attention, okay?" May gives him a hand on the shoulder. "Sure, sure. No need to defend yourself."

PANEL 4: She gives the lounge's clock a glance.

PANEL 5: She gets up and stretches. "Your guy's taking forever," she complains. "We've only been here for twenty minutes, relax," Lynx shoots her complaint down.

PANEL 6: "Maybe we could pass the time talking about YOUR embarrassing moments this week," he claps back. May takes in stride, "Good luck prying that outta me."

PANEL 1: "AAUUGH," May yells out loud agonizingly.

PANEL 2: Across the table, Lynx pushes her, "C'mon! Think about April 6th!" May feels the pressure. "I'm trying, I'm trying!"

PANEL 3: A shadowy figure looms beside her with a warning. "Reminder for ya, May..."

PANEL 4: The figure, a gray cat with black hair, holds a thin blue box. "One hour until our deal's up."

PANEL 5: The box reads at the bottom right corner, "The O.C. Complete Series." It's a boxset.

PANEL 6: May's eyes reflect the box, looking at it with desperation.

PANEL 7: She goes weary, murmuring "God, gimme a Chrismukkah miracle."

PANEL 1: "May, I'm sorry, alright?" Lynx begins apologizing to May, who's sulking. "Everything reminds me of how broken the world is. I appreciate you helping me relax, but I'm just too wired right now."

PANEL 2: May stops her sulk and relates to him. "Nah, it isn't just you," she starts. "I can't stop thinking about bad news too."

PANEL 3: "It's important to unplug," she continues while getting up from her chair, "But it might not be the right time."

PANEL 4: May gently puts her hands on Lynx's shoulders. "Maybe, for now, it IS better to just talk."

PANEL 5: "Forget the distractions," she comforts him with a warm smile. "I'll be scared with you."

PANEL 6: "You mentioned about how A.I. suck and that Sam Altman's a total loser?" She asks him.

PANEL 4: He bows a little and goes, "Well..."

PANEL 5: Lynx starts to sing a snippet of Ya Got Trouble from The Music Man. He sings with extravagant gestures and flourishes, ending with his left arm outstretched, belting his final note.

PANEL 6: "WOO!!!" May cheers him, clapping enthusiastically. "Thank you, thank you," he humbly says to her.

PANEL 7: Lynx leans to the table. "Y'know," he anecdotes, "for a con man, Harold Hill sang a banger of a song."

PANEL 8: "Unlike a CERTAIN con man currently tearing up the White House..." He trails off with a bitter scowl. May hangs her head down and mutters, "Oh, boy."

PANEL 2: She and Lynx are in a cafe, playing the game. "The only place I know that has Game of Life is the nice cafe, sorry," explains her. "No worries, it's nice to get out," Lynx says. "Watch me spin a ten."

PANEL 3: He moves his piece to a square labeled "Get vaccinated" with the game's logo. "Looks like you get a tile, Lynx," May points out.

PANEL 4: He reads the tile, "'Create new technology, collect $50,000.'"

PANEL 5: "HAH!" May playfully mocks, "Sounds like you're responsible for AI."

PANEL 6: Lynx wiggles his hand around and does an impression, "'Ooh, lookie me, I'm a techbro CEO sucking clean water dry for my data centers!'"

PANEL 7: May, looking a bit uneasy, goes, "Heh, so tr--" before being cut off by Lynx continuing his impression, "'I get a kick from plunging the world into a hellscape where you can't tell what's real or not for profit!'"

PANEL 8: He starts to scream to the heavens, "'I ACT LIKE GOD BECAUSE I CREATED ARTIFICIAL LIFE!!'" May and everyone else in the cafe are startled.

PAGE 5: She just looks at him while he rambles. "Snorting inhalers and having sex in public, too. It's such a hassle. There has to be easier ways to do this, right? I could get my heart pumping just by playing RE4."

PAGE 6: He rests his chin on his fists and continues, "More over, if Jason Statham needs to get physical to live, do it by, like, kicking ICE agents to the curb. Get results with it."

PAGE 7: May gets up from her slouch. "I think we need something more braindead," she says. "Yeah, this is surprisingly thought-provoking," Lynx points about the movie.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! Here's a comic essay we made last year about Lunar Boy and QPOC representation 🌈📚 (1/4) #Art #Comics #OC #OCsky #Booksky #Artsky #TDOV
The cover of Lunar Boy. Indu sits on a pile of objects and looks out to the pink and blue sky. He's bordered by a giant moonPanel 1: Jes and Cin (identical twins with short hair) depicted cheering happily as they stand next to a cover of Lunar Boy. The essay reads: “Lunar Boy is going to be out in May and it feels unreal. I’ve said that a lot when working on this book. That it feels “unreal” to be bringing this story to existence. And I should explain why!”
Panel 2: Jes walks through a display of movie posters and bookstands while holding a book. The essay continues: “When I see representations of queer people of color in the mainstream, it always felt like something was missing.”
Panel 3: Cin being overcrowded by fantastical characters, a robot, a gorilla in a spacesuit, a cat princess, and a woman with a sword. The essay continues: “Especially in stories of happy queer escapism.”Panel 1: Continuing: “Their stories often revolve around their white queer friends,” A white woman points to herself as her other hand holds a Black woman’s hand. Who is off to the side. The white woman says “This story’s about ME.” While the Black woman says “I’m here too.”
Panel 2: Continuing: “They’re stripped of cultural specificity” a white woman shares a meal with a dark skinned hijabi woman. The white woman has a burger while the hijabi woman holds chopsticks, ready to eat her noodles. Dialogue above them reads “Ugh, why can’t the character just HAPPEN to be Muslim?” “So stereotypical.” An arrow points to the right showing an edited version where the white woman is unchanged and still eats a burger, but now the hijabi woman doesn’t wear her hijab and is also eating a burger. The dialogue above them reads “much better!” “Finally, a universally relatable diverse story!”
Panel 3: Continuing: “The intersection of their identities,” a venn diagram showing the intersections of religion, POC, queer, and diaspora.
Panel 4: Continuing: “or the histories of their communities, would never be acknowledged.” A woman solemnly stands in front of a grave bearing a bouquet of flowers. On the grave is a small candle and cup with the trans flag poking out of it.

PANEL 2: Turns out, it's Astra. "You heard all of that?" James asks her. "I was wondering where the janitor went," she explains, "Looks like he's no help."

PANEL 3: She pulls out her phone and continues, "Whatever, I just googled how to open a stall from the outside. It's surprisingly easy."

PANEL 4: "That's great, but..." James starts to get nervous. "Maybe he just needed some space to work?" Astra claps back, "He's BARRICADING himself, man!"

PANEL 5: James explains himself, "I mean, Kurt's letting him out nonetheless, so everything's cool, right?" She presses him further, "You're trusting Kurt? That burnout?" "Uh-huh," he confirms.

PANEL 6: She glares him, not believing a word he said.

PANEL 7: James, sweating, nervously smiles.

PANEL 8: Astra dashes out of the conversation, and James follows her in panic.

let's not get frisky at the workplace (another comic about cats in: sprint, pages 7-8/14) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "You needed one more, so I'll just get mine," James says as he and Rex go their separate ways. "Hey, thanks," the other responds, "I'll go back to my desk, then."

PANEL 2: James takes out his extension cord. No one else is in his department, only empty desks and a few boxes. A whiteboard has a message wishing him luck from "Lu."

PANEL 3: Back in Rex's office, he plugs in the last cord needed. Rex gives him an approving thumbs up.

PANEL 4: James gets out of the magazine HQ and into the building's corridor.

PANEL 5: He then goes down the staircase, getting out of the building.PANEL 1: Outside, a janitor is vaping. "Kurt?" James calls to him.

PANEL 2: "Whatcha want, I'm on a vape break," he says while a billow of vape smoke goes to James' face, who's unfazed. "I need help with the toilet," James asks, "someone's stuck there."

PANEL 3: "Which bathroom?" The janitor asks back. "The one near the entrance hall?" James replies, "That's the one."

PANEL 4: Kurt shrugs. "Yeah, I 'unno what's going on with him. I noticed the broken lock when I was cleaning it, but the guy asked me to leave him alone."

PANEL 5: "What?" James needs more info. "Yeah, I'm supposed to fix the lock by 5," Kurt continues.

PANEL 6: James is hit with a thought. "...Huh."

PANEL 7: Kurt adds, "Tell him it's extra if I have to clean up his ji--" James cuts him off, disgusted. "No, no, he's not doing that," he assures.

I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.

Never trust an ICE asshole who said they're doing what they do for their country when all they do is endanger its people. Abolish them now and make them pay for what they've done.

please let him cook (another comic about cats in: sprint, page 6/14) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "You weren't here yet, but there was the Trump Tower sale cover story from three months ago," James starts explaining.

PANEL 2: The corridor is hectic, with people arguing and running around. "Everyone was hands on deck for that," James continues. "The editors especially were in a frenzy, trying to coordinate it all."

PANEL 3: Lynx huddles alone, trying to work. "Lynx, however, was more stressed out than others since he had to directly report to our EIC."

PANEL 4: More people surround him, including James and Astra, who's mad. "He was glued to his work, fixing every minute detail of the story. Astra was very miffed about it."

PANEL 5: At a rooftop party, Lynx explains what he did. James pays attention while Astra rolls her eyes. "When he finished that month's issue, he said that he was just in a 'sprint'. I don't quite get it, still," James concludes.

PANEL 6: Rex tries to rationalize and offers a reason, "HYPERFOCUS or something, right?" James shrugs and answers, "Yeah, probably."

Merry Christmas! Recently watched Jingle All the Way for the first time and I had so much fun with all its ridiculous dumb stuff. Phil Hartman was a standout
Phil Hartman eats a cookie and moans, "Ough, these cookies!" Arnold, on the other line, is both shocked and appalled at his blatant attempt to steal his wife.

wolf of wall street-level of cursing, too (another comic about cats in: sprint, page 5/14) #webcomics
PANEL 1: James asks for an extension cable to another coworker while Rex watches over from the side. "She wants me to get the janitor. He wants me to get some extensions," James thinks.

PANEL 2: "Pretty positive I could do both," he continues. "Kurt could fix this whole kerfuffle while I'm with Rex."

PANEL 3: He looks at his watch. It's 15:39. "Should be done by 5 p.m. if me and Lynx want to beat the traffic."

PANEL 4: His eyes go to Rex, checking his phone. "I don't get why he wants these, though. I should ask Rex."

PANEL 5: "If you don't mind answering," James asks Rex, showing the coworker's extension, "Why is Lynx gathering these?" Rex answers, "Oh, it's for his laptop."

PANEL 6: He continues, "Said he's on a 'sprint' or whatever." James turns sour a bit. "Sprint...? Oh, boy," he replies.

PANEL 7: They get out of the coworker's office. "Yeah, what the hell does that mean?" asks Rex. "If Astra's explaining this, there would be a lot more cursing," James answers.

no respect here (another comic about cats in: sprint, page 4/14) #webcomics
PANEL 1: "Actually, since you here, can you do me a favor and call the janitor?" Astra asks. "I'm super busy." James shows his phone to her again and asks her back, "Alright, but one quick look at the post, first?"

PANEL 2: She looks at the phone closer. "It's fine," she assesses. "Hey, my job gets scrutinized more, so chill." James takes issue with that, saying "Please don't say that managing social media is easy."

PANEL 3: "Getting paid for scrolling through TikTok? That's the dream," she reasons, walking away from James, who looks disappointed.

PANEL 4: Suddenly, Rex appears and asks, "Yo, Jamsies, you got a sec?" James, taken aback, goes, "What's up?"

PANEL 5: Rex continues, "Help me get some more extension cables? You're chummier than the other folks here."

PANEL 6: "Astra already asked me to take care of Lynx," James tells him. "He said that it's fine, man," Rex assures. "Just come with."

PANEL 7: He puts an arm on James' shoulder. "I don' know..." James feels unsure. "I have to plan for tomorrow's reels." Rex tells him, "C'mon, do you REALLY need to outline all that?"

PANEL 8: "Just point and shoot, bruh!" He says. James goes, "Eeeh..." as they walk through the corridor.

that's that workaholic for ya (another comic about cats in: sprint, page 3/14) #webcomics
PANEL 1: Astra storms out the bathroom. "This is so stupid," she goes. A bearded cat, James, notices her.

PANEL 2: "Astra, I need your take on this post," he says as he approaches her. "James, thank goodness!" she greets him with a tinge of relief. "Talk sense to your friend!"

PANEL 3: They looked down to the core issue. "Does it have something to do with these extensions?" he asks. "So, TLDR," she starts explaining, "the lock got broken and he decided to keep working instead of getting help."

PANEL 4: Pointing her thumb to the bathroom, she continues, "Dude, our work as editors means that we have to keep each other in check. Since Lynx's not answering the group chat, I got nothing from him."

PANEL 5: James reaches down to grab one of the extensions. "Why not have faith in the guy?" He reasons to her, "he's still here for a reason." Throwing her hands around the hallway, she rebuts, "That's only because this magazine is teetering on a cliff's edge."

PANEL 6: "We can't even afford the crossword guy anymore, remember?" she reminds him. "The subliminal message he put on the last one was mental," he adds.
