You know what's funny? In "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" when humans faced existential threat from synthetic humanoids - who were by all accounts, smarter, stronger, and faster - they leaned INTO their humanity, hence the exaltation of empathy.

I'm not a lawyer, but without any legal challenge (e.g. Pete Hegseth blocking promotions based on race and gender), what's legally enforceable is a little irrelevant. We've also seen actions such as deportations of citizens, which were deemed illegal go ahead anyway.

I can't believe the video I watched today. But also, given the way the government is spinning the news and investing in controlling social media, Europe really needs to invest in its web infrastructure and developing social media. Think about how much of the web relies on Cloudflare and AWS.

Designing a card game similar to Pokemon, but for kids to “collect” cards if they eat fruit or veggies and then you can battle your cards. I’m not sure if this is the dietician approved way, but the idea is to put new foods on my picky eaters radar in an opt-in, low pressure way.

I worry that we are getting ever more isolated by being trained to regard the act of thinking, taking in information and communicating as inconvenient chores, over getting shallow, quick wins. And they will be shallow, because the test of ideas is that they survive a little pushback.

In a similar way, the very rapid productivity effects of Ai has a similar effect on communication. The "expected user experience" of giving an output is to be rewarded with a result. Not to discuss, take in information, collaborate, ideate together, listen etc. 2/3

I think a lot about unintended consequences. A while ago, there was an article describing how productivity culture had the knock-on effect that many kids didn't see a value to reading except to get information or plot summaries. 1/3
