At height of council building, in 1950s, councils built on average around 147,000 homes a year. In past 10 yrs councils have averaged building around 1,400 homes a year www.local.gov.uk/topics/housi... 70K over 10 yrs (7k pa) is way below need but a considerable increase on dire current levels.

An important figure in mental health politics in Greece passed away this morning. He was very ill for nearly a year. Theodoros Megalooikonomou, a radical psychiatrist, devoted his whole career to the struggle for a mental health system underpinned by social justice and Basaglia's philosophy. RIP ❤️😥

Pathological over-surveillance has always been a problem in psychiatry. The 'panopticon' buildings were a predecessor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopti.... According to Foucault, the information asymmetry they produced was a form of oppression. Great to find @asylummagazine.bsky.social on here!
