Took up a little project today to organize the 50ish postcards I've received over the last couple of years. These Traveler's Notebook photo binders are perfectly sized to hold them (24 per book) with room to write notes in the margins. I made little labels to identify them by year.

A postcard book with Fire Emblem Three Houses and Xenogears postcards is laid open. A second book titled "Postcard Memories 2025-2026" lays closed.

I am having an outsized stress reaction to a Tenso package situation. I reached out to the devs of Stray Children to ask if they would be releasing the game’s soundtrack digitally; they said no, but they had some extra stock of the CD that was sold via pre-order only earlier this year.

This is one of my favorite things. In the final dungeon, the chest messages change to notes from the translators talking about how much this game means to them, and encouragements to see it through to the end. Hits me right in the heart and reminds me why we do this work. Machines could never.

Earnestness can feel like a crime in this day and age. Game discourse and conversation is a mire plagued by reactionary weirdos and players with unreasonable demands. Few people know how to explain the downside of a work or voice their disagreements without spiraling into a tornado of invective filth. Yet, from time to time, there are heroes in our stories that embody the proper path. Trails is packed with those earnest heroes, and spending time with them kicks so much ass.

It’s cool to hear from developers with such a strong point of view. In particular I think they’re on to something with the idea of “animation primacy” and its effects on modern action game design. Their insights are pleasantly off the beaten path. I should try Angeline Era again.

Finished the Another Eden Begins demo, and...hm. I want to like it. I've spent years listening to the mobile version's various soundtracks, imagining some kind of world worthy of such sonic breadth. Is there one? I'm not sure. So far it feels...dilute. Like only the suggestion of a true adventure.
