Mr Dando has redeemed himself! After a shaky start, he blasted out the hits and put a smile back on my face. Clearly a fragile man these days but we gave him a great Holmfirth welcome.

Last of my Piece Hall gigs was the fabulous @flaminglips.bsky.social and Beta Band. FL put on their usual psychedelic, inflatable delights and had the crowd dancing and singing. Cried at DYR obviously.

I’m genuinely sad about the death of David Hockney. A proud Yorkshireman who celebrated life and inspired artists. An icon working right to the end. RIP x

Poem with a subliminal message.

Resolution

Having failed to keep
A new year’s resolution for
Pretty much ever, this year I resolve to
Play it safe. The trick is to know
Your limits. Keep it simple.

Now what I resolve to do is to
Eschew a poetic form. Abstain from
Writing an acrostic for a whole

Year. A resolution, I think,
Easily done. Eminently achievable.
A piece of cake. Oh,
Rats.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
