For me, the hardest thing about stories like the Cornell gang rape case isn’t reading the initial details—although that is hard. What’s even harder is when men online, especially the journalists and pundits, start trying to combat the feminist outrage by purposefully seeding doubt and victim-blaming

So…the world works in mysterious ways. So does the cat distribution system. This wkd I (all things going to plan) adopt a kitten who was a street cat on the campus of my very 1st job in Korea- Paju. I have many favorite academics. Willow is probably one of my favorite new ones. So smart, so thorough, so interesting. Always loved RIVER’S EDGE but this was a bit of trivia I did not know about.

My favorite thing that I've learned while doing research on RIVER'S EDGE is that Dennis Hopper's role was initially offered to Harry Dean Stanton, but he passed on it. The casting agent said, "He gave everything he didn't want to do to Dennis, and if Dennis didn't want to do it, then no one would."

I would be nothing if it wasn’t for Korean cinema. I’m constantly blown away. I love (and still love film noir) but I just keep finding more and more interesting classic work that really features aspects of women and gender dynamics. Especially this horror film I’m watching rn. So freakin cool! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This second 특별수사본부 film is VERY different. I like it quite a bit but the KOFA print/recording has sound issues so that’s a thing but I’ve made it beyond that. The story (based on facts) is really fascinating & keeps reminding me of how much the US has colonized Korea as well.

This one is like a 70s action movie with high political themes (obvs) and great women spies. Lots of James Bond-y and investigative crime drama fun too. Yeah, hyper-melodramatic too but you can’t have Korean 70s without that. I’m so happy. I LOVE Korean cinema so much.

The more classic Korean films I watch (which is like all the time) the more confused I am that “big” filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino have only gotten interested in Big Name New Guys like Bong Joon-ho,etc
