I can't believe it took me 22 years to realize the giant mirror in Dracula's ballroom in Van Helsing is an ACTIVE SECURITY MEASURE to detect humans and — especially — vampire hunters within a crowded ballroom. Mirrors as active security measures for vampires... yeah that's getting used in a ttrpg.

Indie publishers/designers, what do you consider fair royalty rates for publishing someone’s stuff, if the publisher pays for printing, handles storage, distribution, sales etc, but the designer does all creative work. I wanna make sure my deal is good for the designer but don’t know the benchmark.

The legendary relic, "RITUAL GOAT MASK"

MÖRKTOBER DAY 1: GOAT A quick, last minute entry for the day. The GOAT MASK grants a boon and a bane to any who dare wear it. (In retrospect, I would have named them differently. 🤷)

Legendary artifact known as the goat mask. When worn, treated mechanically as a shield, grants a boon and a bane.

The boon is “charge.” When winning initiative, deal +1 weapon damage. Probably should have been called “ram”. Whoops.

The bane is “stubborn.” Cannot hide or flee from foes.

I applaud the no-AI stance of Roleplay Cafe. I think many of us in the TTRPG scene do. But then you sully that goodwill and stance by using Gen AI to code your site. That will always read as hypocrisy. I’ve seen many pro-AI folks argue that their use is legitimate, you’re doing the same here.

I think it’s good that (most) everyone has taken a swing at their own fantasy heartbreaker. It really dives deep into the type of systems you enjoy and helps you figure out what it is about a specific genre of play you enjoy (or don’t.) If you’ve not made one, do it! It’s great!

100% I’m in the camp that if you want to be a better player, play with lots of different groups and GMs. If you want to be a better GM, run for lots of different players. Everyone brings something unique to the table and it’s way too easy to get stuck in a specific way of play.
