Typed up some simple rules and ran a session for some students using DNGN.

Quick Adventure Rules
Character Creation
Roll 3d6 for each of the following traits.
•Strength
•Dexterity
•Wisdom
Roll 1d6+2 for your Health Points
Start with a bag, a weapon, a torch, 2 rations, a bedroll, and 1d6 gold coins. A bag can hold 10 items. You can carry a bag for every 5 points of Strength your character has. All characters can have 1 bag regardless of Strength.
Actions
Roll a d20 under a trait’s score to succeed at uncertain tasks.
Combat
Roll under Strength for melee attacks and under Dexterity for ranged attacks. Roll 1d6 to determine damage on a successful attack. Halve that damage for unarmed attacks. On a failed attack against a hostile target, you take damage equal to the target’s rolled Hit Dice. For example, a failed attack against a 2HD creature means you take 2d6 damage.
Magical weapons give advantage to attack and damage rolls, meaning you roll twice and pick the better roll.
Magic
Characters with a starting wisdom of 15 or more can choose a spell to learn from any referee-approved grimoire. Roll under Wisdom to cast a spell. On a fail, you can’t recast the spell for a day.
Advancement
Spend 1000 gold coins to either raise a trait by 1, add 1d6 to your HP, or learn a new spell. Traits cannot exceed 18.

$## Melburk Melburk was once a large city with tall shimmering towers where advanced technology was developed. The towers are now a melted mass of glass and steel. No one remembers what happened to the towers, even though whatever happened was not long ago. Most of the remaining residents are children ages 10-17. Their parents all worked in the towers and were lost in the incident. The children can’t even remember their parents’ names or faces. Memory surrounding the incident has been fractured. Faubourg St Forgott is the name of the mostly abandoned part of the city. Its orderly geometric concrete houses look like empty mausoleums. Except for a few gangs of rollerblading orphans, most people avoid the Faubourg. Staying in it too long is believed to damage one’s memory. Most life happens in the Holy District. Shipping containers are converted into stores, cafes, and bunkhouses. At the center is the Cathedral of Mother Moon. A thick iron cable extends from the Cathedral’s steeple into the sky. No one knows what it is connected to, but sometimes a light far up in the sky above blinks at night.$
