I growl about Irish Rail, but they don't claim that their vehicles are due when they don't exist. I've just seen a Dublin Bus go from "3 minutes" (which it held for 10) to "Due" to... nothing. The next one evaporated off the tracker before it showed up 8 minutes late, 2 stops into the route. Clowns.

Apparently the MetroLink project could run to €19 billion. Ok. GET ON WITH IT. It's not going to get any cheaper, and it's completely necessary, not least because it's embarrassing telling international visitors they can't get a train from the airport. www.irishtimes.com/transport/20...

This is the correct way forward. The current situation is benefitting a small number of landlords, and nobody else. Of course, our glorious leaders are either landlords or have them in the close family, so it's going to take some pressure for this to happen. www.thejournal.ie/readme/kelly...

You start off with perfectly sensible sentences like "I fed the cat". And then maybe, "the cat has been fed". And before you know it, you're on "sustenance has been cast into the gaping maw".

Every year, seeing this blows my mind. Far side of the fence, grazed by sheep: a deadzone. Our side of the fence: full of wild native trees, flowers, insects, birds. WHY are we not giving hill farmers other livelihood options that *benefit*, instead of destroy, nature, like paying them to rewild?

I have three wants for Irish Rail's trains. They should be on time, have the reserved seat signs up, and not be at the platforms where you have to walk halfway to your destination to reach them. This shouldn't be a difficult set of things to achieve, and yet.

A slightly soft-focus picture of a Planescape Tiefling by Tony DiTerlizzi. She has very pointed ears, hooves, a tail, and is dressed in baggy silks and bits of armour. She has a spiked pauldron on her right shoulder, and holds a faintly modron-esque staff in her right hand.
