It's not even small voices that do it, either. It's large following popular artists who think they know better and can claim something is GenAI without any actual or proper evidence, thus slamming another artist with the full force of their following to paint them as nothing more than AI art.

Besides the obvious answer of GenAI itself, one of the worst things that came out of this push for generative art and it flooding feeds with its garbage is a slew of Salem Witch Trial criers. People, both regular and other artists, who will simply hurl accusations baselessly at artists for being AI.

Incorrectly accusing an artist of using genAI does more damage to a community of creatives than an artist (or anyone else) actually using genAI. As the tech continues to improve, we’ll lose more artists to burnout caused by incorrect accusations than to loss of income from reduced patronage. Stop.
